Questions & Answers

I want to use this to see the consumpson for a 5 ton AC compressor so I can bill back the tenant for electrical usage. Will this device give me the number of KW used over the course of the year. I would bill the tenant every 4 month for what they used.

System comes with 16 CTs -- can additional CTs be added via of a 2nd system - and then managed from one App as some others do - exp. Emponia - allows for expansion in this way. I have two - 200 Amp sub-panels and both have about 25 breakers.

Confused - most homes in the US come with different size breaks: 50, 30, 20, and 15 Amp are the most common. Also, the system comes with some 50 AMP CTs so why would that be if they can only be used on 15 AMP breakers as suggested by two answers below?

I found the answer in the installation guide. The max 15 amp is for the power required for the unit - not the individual CTs - which should be find on the other breakers with different ratings and the limits of the CT.

This Inhab Energy Controller includes the 2 x 200 Amp + 16 x 50 Amp Current Transformer I have included the manual and data sheet links below: https://s3.amazonaws.com/dcc-data-extract/new-delta/asset/Compas/daily/Compas/Data%20Sheet/SIE_DS_InhabEM.pdf https://s3.amazonaws.com/dcc-data-extract/new-delta/asset/Compas/daily/Compas/Instruction_Owners%20Manual/SIE_IM_InhabEM.pdf

I believe this Siemens energy monitor is a rebranded Emporia. I use Emporia and as long as the current on both phases of the 2 pole circuit are the same, the application allows you to double the current and use just a single current transformer.

              By|Mar 24, 2026

Counting all branch circuits and adding a second monitor to each 2-pole circuit I would need 21 total transformers to monitor my home. Can you add more sensors to the monitor or would I need to buy 2 of these to cover every circuit?

                Answer This Question

If you have multiple panels or more than sixteen circuits in a single panel then yes, you may use more than one Inhab Energy Monitor to capture the additional circuits.

Description says, there are x16 sensor for up to 50A breakers but answers says breakers should be maximum 15A, which one is correct? I like to monitor water heaters, A/C's, ranges and dryers in my house. Thank you.

                    Answer This Question

Customer can download 15-minute data using CSV export feature in the app in order to view historical data in kWs. This will give closest approximation to peak demand over a 15 minute interval. The peak demand displayed in the mobile app is limited to the existing month.

Installation instructions were logical. Parts are well labeled which helped ensure correct installation. Extreme caution is needed when working in an electrical circuit breaker panel. The choice to use one CT on a dual-pole breaker is a space saver. This requires using a multiplier of 2 for usage accuracy. The installer needs to accurately label each CT to accurately monitor usage. This requires having a good breaker mapping or to verify each line as you install a CT. The home energy monitor has a unique set-up to accommodate solar power integration. Reading usage real-time helps identify circuits and appliances with the most usage. This helps when aiming to use off-peak power as requested by power utilities. I installed the CTs on Sept. 6, 2025 and have been using for 1 1/2 months. A few more monthly cycles will help synch the Siemens' usage readings to my utility bill usage. Another great feature is the ability to download usage from the app to a desktop PC. Results are in daily, hourly, 15 minute, 1 minute and 1 second readings all with the CTs as labeled by the user. I needed technical support to understand setting up for a solar integrated installation. Allison in customer support spent a generous amount of time to clearly explain the required configuration. Allison followed with an email to further explain and illustrate the set up and recalibration. Monitoring can be done on the phone app as well as via an online portal. The product is fun to use and the customer support was exceptional.

The system wasn't hard to install with the exception of how much room I had in my breaker box. I have had it for over a month and it is great to be able to see what sections of my house are utilizing more power. The only thing I would like is to have more sensors added to a main hub instead of the limited 16 that it comes with

Installation was very easy. Software is ok, but it could be better. It would be nice to run on a Mac or windows machine.

This is the best! I have two panels in my house and it lets me know exactly what I need to pay for my area. Highly recommend for anyone with an apartment or multi panels.

                      Great Product
The day after I installed this I noticed unusual power consumption on my sump pump. After investigating it turns out the pump never turned off but also wasn't pumping any water. I would say this product payed for itself allready. This is the same thing as the emporia product with different branding and a higher price.

Sensors were easy to clip on. The hub fits nicely in the circuit panel. The WiFi signal is strong with the antenna inside the wall. I will say loading a circuit panel with 18 sensors maxes out all the space.

Fairly simple to install, works amazing, love being able to monitor my electric use, only wish it had the ability to monitor more than 16 circuits. I guess I could simply buy another to monitor more if I really feel like I need to. Overall awesome way to monitor your electric use.
