A: Hello JImbob, My name is Colin with Simpson Strong-Tie. My apologies for the delay answering your question. You can determine if the SDWS25300 screws can be used to join two 2x (1-1/2") members side by side using Fastener Designer. On our home page, strongtie.com, enter Fastener Designer in the Search Strongtie.com field at the top of the page. Open up the web-based FD app. Enter your information for a Multi-Ply Connection. This application provides detailed load calculations for both the NDS fastener and the recommended Simpson Strong-Tie structural screw. If you need more information or have additional questions about FD, please contact the Simpson Strong-Tie Customer Service team at 800-999-5099. We look forward to hearing from you.
A: Hello, this is Stacy with Simpson Strong-Tie. Standard SDS screws are made with a double-barrier coating which is a medium level of corrosion protection. This can be used with some types of pressure treated lumber. Stainless steel SDS screws should only be used with stainless steel connectors. Please take a look at our corrosion classifications table obtained by the AWPA.. If you have any questions please call us at (800) 999-5099. We look forward to hearing from you.

A: Hi Bruce, this is Colin with Simpson Strong-Tie. For typical construction of 2x walls we recommend our SDWS Framing Screw that is 0.160" in diameter and lengths of 2½, 3, 3½, and 4 inches. The SDS¼x3 screw is designed for larger wood members for heavy-duty applications. Hope that helps. Thanks.
