This can be used with some types of pressure treated lumber. Stainless steel SDS screws should only be used with stainless steel connectors. A:  Hi Bruce, this is Colin with Simpson Strong-Tie. For typical construction of 2x walls we recommend our SDWS Framing Screw that is 0.160" in diameter and lengths of 2½, 3, 3½, and 4 inches. The SDS¼x3 screw is designed for larger wood members for heavy-duty applications. Hope that helps. Thanks.
