Product Overview

The Titen HD anchor is a high-strength screw anchor for concrete and masonry. It is designed for optimum performance in both cracked and uncracked concrete. The high-strength, easy-to-install Titen HD anchor has been tested and shown to provide outstanding performance in cracked and uncracked concrete under both static and seismic loading conditions. The self-undercutting, non-expansion characteristics of the Titen HD anchor make it ideal for structural applications, even at reduced edge distances and spacings. Recommended for permanent dry, interior non-corrosive environments or temporary outdoor applications.
  • Qualified for static and seismic loading conditions
  • Thread design undercuts to efficiently transfer the load to the base material
  • No special drill bit required; designed to install using standard-sized ANSI tolerance drill bits
  • Testing shows the Titen HD installs in concrete with 50% less torque than competitor anchors
  • Hex-washer head requires no separate washer and provides a clean installed appearance
  • Carbon steel Titen HD utilizes a specialized heat-treating process that creates tip hardness for better cutting without compromising the ductility
  • Zinc-plated carbon steel anchor can be used for temporary exterior applications
  • Size: 1/4 in. x 1-7/8-in
  • Caution: Use a Titen HD screw anchor one time only — installing the anchor multiple times may result in excessive thread wear and reduce load capacity

How much weight will it hold overhead, and what is the shear weight

Answer

Hello! It is difficult to answer this question in general terms. Resistance of Titen HD screws anchors needs to be determined for specific conditions such as concrete strength, location of the anchor in relation to the edges and other anchors, cracked/uncracked condition of concrete. This is usually determined by a qualified designer. We do publish values for our concrete anchors, including THD screws, in our Canadian literature. No special drill bit required — designed to install using standard-sized ANSI tolerance drill bits. We do not have a recommendation for a specific brand. Thank you!

Do you have to pre drill the entire length of the screw?

I used the anchor for going into cinder block and concrete both. I like the fact a standard 1/4 concrete bit works perfectly with this product. (Unlike TapCon) The holding power was great as when the bolt was being driven in produced crush on the redwood boards being attached. Easy and fast installation, just be sure to bore the holes an inch deeper than the bolt size and clear the dust out of the hole using the drill. By a long shot, this is the best concrete fastener I've ever used, and effective without the use of epoxy.

one strong anchore!
Love these, used hilti version, before these. The best anchore you can buy at home depot. Love how they can be pulled out and put back in to concrete. Stronger than tapcons.
