can you bend this pipe with a pipe bender at 90 degree angles

Asked by Jt February 9, 2021
1
Answer

Hi Jt, for creating a 90-degree angle we recommend the 90-degree elbow for two primary reasons: a) this pipe is not designed to be bent b) we cannot guarantee the structural integrity of the pipe after it has been bent We hope this helps with your project.

Answer

Hi James, it is safe to daily touch galvanized pipe on a regular basis. Do note that this pipe comes with the grease/oil from manufacturing still on it so prior to using it, we recommend cleaning it thoroughly. If you plan to use this outdoors, after cleaning it should be sprayed with a rust-protectant sealer to keep it functioning for as long as possible. We hope this helps with your purchase.

is this seamless?

Asked by mike April 23, 2020

Answer

Hi mike, the nipple offering on The Home Depot's website is welded nipples & pipe. For seamless you will have to go to the Pro desk which has a wholesale offering which might include seamless. We hope this helps with your purchase.

Not good
I am installing this for a gas line to feed a new furnace. The gas lines need to be clean to prevent small flakes or debris from lodging in the furnace jets. This pipe was capped on both ends but is caked with sand/powder/debris. See photos. Not good.

The pipe was filled with particulate and some sort of powder, I assume its from the galvanizing process. It all needed to be removed and purchased from another supplier.

I made several pipe clamps with these pipes. The picture is not accurate. This pipe has thread on both end. Homedepot guys are nice, and they can cut the pipes to pieces and thread the ends if you want. FOR FREE (11-2017). It perfectly fits to my Bessey pipe clamp kit. I didn't choose the black steel pipe that is a few bucks cheaper, because I don't want to have color contamination on my wood work.
