Trace circuits to detect appropriate breaker. Turning off the correct breaker is critical when considering work on an electrical circuit and can take an excessive amount of time. The Breaker Finder is an integrated tool used to correctly identify the right breaker every time. The signal is generated by a plug style tool that also verifies the correct wiring of outlets and includes GFCI test functionality. The patented probe design indicates the signal strength through both an audio tone and visual strength indication. Magnets located on the tester allow for easy placement and operation. The nested design of the tone generator means that the units will not be separated during transport or storage.

I rewired the load center in my apartment house and got the labeling mixed up. Normally I would use a noise device like a radio and toggle until I found it, but these outlets were too far away to hear. This gadget solved the problem quickly by allowing me to identify the circuits fast. There's some bleed over to nearby circuits but if you turn off the suspect it goes quiet, proving that you found the one. The sensor has a nice magnet mount that gives you free hand to work breakers while holding the sensor wand. I'm glad I own it.

Very good design and easy to handle. It takes some experimentation to distinguish between the right breaker and nearby breakers. Hold the wand away about 2” from the breakers as you move it down the panel to increase the difference in tone.Overall, a beautiful tool!

No good for commercial use

I work in a commercial building. I bought this thinking bit would cut down on time, but no. It does change pitch and what-not but doesn't even come close to identifying the breaker in question. You end up doing it the old fashioned way after all. Don't bother with this.

Just got it and immediately put it to use. Works amazingly well as long as you orient the wand as per instruction manual. For $27 it is a steal. No calibration, no adjustments, just plug it in and scan the breakers.
As an added bonus you can verify that the breaker is the correct one by manually triggering it off and seeing if the signal from the transmitter stops. Beats running from the panel to the room or screaming across the house for someone to check if the plug is now off.
