The innovative SA-HD5-BIO Quick Access Vault is designed to be installed under your desk or counter for fast and discreet access to your firearm. What is the drop down distance?

Do you need to add the mounting plate or can you still mount it without that plate? The height of this is listed at 3.7", is that with this mounting plate?
Good Afternoon, In order to mount this unit you will need to use the mounting plate that came with it and follow the instructions in your owner's manual. I would assume the height is without the mounting plate. Since the mounting plate is so small I would add about a quarter to half inch to the height.
