Q:How is this different from the HEPD80?

A:  Hi, The HEPD80 works together with surge protection plug strips to provide surge suppression for sensitive electronics. HEPDs reduce surges that might otherwise overwhelm plug strips and damage connected household equipment. HEPD80 also provide surge suppression for important items such as washers, dryers, refrigerators, stoves, and lighting that plug strips don't protect. is for protection for electrical only.     Q:Do I need to buy a home surge protector in addition to this Square D Model #SDSB80111 protector? The Home Depot "Frequently Bought Together" that pops up indicates this. I understand needing a two pole circuit breaker but another home surge protector?

                    Enclousure Box Not needed for most situations
                    I bought a unit several years ago, thinking that if the surge protector goes, a new one can be easily replaced inside the box. The box looked a little different compared to this one but it was basically the same. Now, I need a new surge protector. This company no longer makes a replacement surge protector that will fit inside the box . The box is trash, since the indicator light panel will not line up with the new version of the HEPD80 indicator light. The enclosure box is not needed, just buy your Surge Protector separately and save some money!

                    The HEPD80 carries a NEMA 4X enclosure rating, suitable for both indoor and outdoor installation. It does not need to have its own enclosure.
