Great question BillM, thanks for asking for it. Yes, these pin top balusters to taper down into a larger diameter. There is a continuous diameter down from the tip of about 3 inches, then it gently tapers into a larger diameter from there on down. Before you order the balusters, compare the bottom blocks of your current balusters and the ones you're looking at here. If your bottom block is 7-1/4 inches, then it's going to be a close match. But it's the bottom blocks you'll want to match first. Also, take a good look at the turnings of the baluster. These should match, or come close to matching. If those dimensions match your existing balusters, then purchasing a 36 in. baluster to trim down may be your best bet. Hi Al, thanks for the question. The height of this baluster base is 7-1/4 in. If you have additional questions, we'll reply as quickly as we can. Thank you!
Hi unique, the square portion is 7-1/4 in. tall, from the base to the edge of the taper. We do sell balusters with extended square bottoms much like you describe, just not in this particular style. If you're interested in doing a special order, visit any Customer Service desk inside a Home Depot store for more information. Thank you.
Hi Unhandy, these primed balusters have a pin on the bottom that allows for easier, more precise installations. The pin is 3/4 in. diameter, and 1/2 in. deep. If you have additional questions, we'll reply as quickly as we can. Thank you.
Balusters are available in different lengths. I have several of various lengths and the top taper point is 1/2 inch diameter. I did use the 5015 but different lengths for my needs. I used 5015s of differing length due to the fact the angle of the stairs requires longer than the level run at the landing and top of stairs. So, if you are looking for the top taper to be 4 inches apart measure at 4 and 1/2 inches center point to center points for the drill hole on the underside of the top rail. I had to cut the bottom lengths short to fit proper so I made sure to purchase over length balusters.
Hi Lou, these particular balusters are made in China. If we can answer other questions, we'll reply as quickly as we can. Thank you.
Square base at the top part.
coz, the length of the baluster, including the pin, is 36-3/4". If you have any other questions, we'll do our best to assist you. Thanks!
Hi oikerT, the decorative section of this baluster is 2-1/2" in length, just a bit longer than what you specify. If you have any other questions or need more information, we will do our best to help you. Thank you.
Hi oikerT, the bottom of these balusters are 7-1/4 inches from the bottom of the square, to the top of the where it begins the turned section, or what some woodworkers call the "lambs-tongue." It's lightly shorter than the one you're needing unfortunately. They can be made-to-order out of paint-grade poplar if you need the bottom squares that long. Inquire at any Special Order desk within a Home Depot store to begin the quoting process. If you have additional questions, we'll do our best to assist you. Thank you.
