Questions & Answers

Are these stain grade finish on both sides

Asked by: Scott
I’ve used these several times. Most of them are usable both sides, but some have one side better than the other.

When install this stair tread on landing, do I have to remove old wood or just put new tread on the top and glue them?

Asked by: Lee
The rise after installing needs to be the same as before or @ 7 1/2 to 8 1/2". People are very sensitive to the height of the stair treads and know immediately when something is off. You can easily trip if it's wrong. In most localities, it is a basic part of building codes. Builders can and are sued when people get hurt because of this.

We stained our treads but also installed the matching oak risers and painted them. Yes, they can be painted

I am going to use these treads to replace our old stair treads. What is the recommended fastener for this and what size? I am thinking a 2-inch wood screw, but I don't know what to use that will work best. Please, give me an advise and THANK YOU.
Asked by: Kreation
With my installation I used Henry 237 adhesive (same adhesive that is used for ceiling tiles). This way I don't have any screw or nail holes showing on the Oak Treads. To fasten the runners, I also used the same adhesive with 1 3/4" 18ga brads.
