Questions & Answers

Q:If I want to chain these lengthwise instead of next to each other, is there a way to do that without using 20' of pipe? The water goes from one end to the other and back again, I'd like it to go through 6 or 8 in sequence then back again if possible

Q:how many panels do i need for a 15000 galons poll?

Answer This Question

A:  Manufacture says 6 panels (3 boxes, 2 panels per box). I'd go with 8 panels, so that as leaks occur and tubes are eliminated from the system, you still have 6+ effective panels.

A:  2 panels.

A:  I have about an 18000 gallon pool. I used 4, 2-foot x 20 foot panels. I installed them on the roof of my garage and tied them into my pool circulation equipment with a diverted valve. I have full sun all day. I can easily raise my pool temperature 6 to 8 degrees Fahrenheit, in about 4 days, using them about 5 hours a day. The pool is generally in the upper 80’s, though i’ve Had it higher. I live in SoCal. I’m very pleased with the panels.

Q:Will this work for an above ground pool?

A:  Thank u smartpool. Can this above ground model s240u be installed on the garage roof about 20 feet away from the pump? Or does it have to be next to the pool?

      by|May 5, 2023

A:  I think a Sunheater would work for an above ground pool if you have a pump/ filter that you can connect the Sunheater into. The mechanics are essentially the same. But, I think the effectiveness of the Sunheater will be reduced as the circulation of water in an above ground pool is more at the surface than the bottom of the pool, which would better circulate the warm water. Also, the heat loss from an above ground pool is likely higher than an in ground pool.

        by|May 5, 2023

A:  NO, this is designed for In Ground Pools. go back on to Home Depot and enter this in the search bar 1 or the other Model # S240U Internet #205953876 only the numbers and this will bring you to the 80 SQ Ft unit for Above Ground Pools.

          by|May 5, 2023

A:  I believe so (i have an inground pool). There is a different product they say is for above ground, but i like how the water is designed to flow through this system.

Home Depot advertizes this as a complete system ready to set up all parts included. WRONG came without end caps, diverter valve(ball valve),elbow connectors or a hose. It appears that in order to get the additional parts there may be 2 additional kits to buy..aprox $150 additional. This product took about 3 wks to ship to Hawaii and then sat at the store for 3 additional weeks, No one at HD notified me that it was in, the only way I found out was because after 6 wks I went by to check. Perhaps there is another box of parts sitting at HD,,I will check my next 20 mile trip to the area
