A:  I did, otherwise the pump would need to be primed everytime.

            we use it to draw water from the lake/pond. While we have a "point" for drinking water however, ...
            we use it to draw water from the lake/pond. While we have a "point" for drinking water however, we draw from the lake for gardening and bathroom water including showers. While we used to use a small 3 or 4 inch screen in a bucket, this works much better. I purchased the "Stocking" that fits over the filter and lay it on 2 cement blocks and use a chain to keep it on the blocks. Works great!!

            Did not Fit My Pump
            Not universal. Did not fit my 1/3hp pump. Way too narrow. Just buy the fabric bag (or a sock) and throw it over the end.

                I had another filter on my lake pump, and it kept letting small bark-like pieces into the pump, which then plugged up my sprinkler nozzles. I installed this unit, with the companion sock that fits over it, and now my sprinkler nozzles stay clean. Three weeks now, and I haven't had one plugged nozzle.

                Debris getting into sprinkler heads
                I use this to run 9 sprinkler heads with water from Lake Michigan. My only issue is the holes in the screen are a little too large and is letting small particles of debris reach the sprinkler heads requiring me to clean each head intake screen. I finally wrapped the filter with aluminum screen secured by cable ties to cure the problem.
