Q:Does this product hurt the fish?

Answer This Question
A: Hello, we thank you for your inquiry. Yes, our Algaecide is safe for fish and plants if it’s used as directed. Especially in warm weather, before using water treatments make sure the pond has strong constant aeration- i.e., a fountain, waterfall, or other aeration devices to avoid fish loss due to low oxygen levels. When algae is removed by the filter or settles to the bottom of the pond/fountain, the oxygen level may drop to a harmful level if adequate aeration is not provided. Therefore, when using Algaecide during warm summer months, adequate aeration is required. Do not shut pond pumps and aeration devices off at night. If you have any questions, feel free to contact our customer care team at 1-888-412-6001 Monday – Friday, between 8:30 AM to 5 PM ET.

This will kill your fish
On the 16oz bottle I bought it says "safe for fish" but my fish got very sick when I used this product. If you look on the Total Pond website it says " Wait at least 7-10 days before adding fish to the water". They don't even know what they are talking about, which is correct?. Are the instructions on the bottle correct or is their website correct? DO NOT PUT THIS IN A POND WITH LIVE FISH, IT WILL KILL YOUR FISH.

I have a 3 foot x 5 foot pond, with no fish. The water was murky green and sludgy. I could not see the bottom. I added 1/4th the bottle on 5/9/19 that evening. I checked the pond on 5/11/19 at 10 am and the pond was crystal clear. I am so pleased.

Our small fountain is in direct sunlight and we have fits with the algae. Both the look (green water) and the way it clogs the small pump. One capful of this product changed everything. Love it!

I bought this Total Pond Algaecide after several attempts to get rid of the algae in my fountain. Salt didn't work, other products didn't work. Several times I even drained the fountain and scrubbed the pot clean, but the algae came back right away. When it got to the point that the frog spitter looked like he was barfing gook instead of spitting water and my neighbors wanted to call paramedics or an exorsist to save the frog, I decided to give this product a try. It did not work instantly the 1st time that I used it, but within a couple of days the water was clear, now every time the water starts to look a little green I add a little of this Algaecide it the water clears right up.
