Answer

Certainly you can connect it to a short extension cord as long as the supplied 16 ft cord makes it to the edge of the pond. Make sure that the connection is high and dry because obviously you should not have the plug and socket in the water. There are weather resistant boots that you can add to your extension cord to keep the connection out of the rain and snow, like this one https://www.homedepot.com/p/Twist-and-Seal-Cord-Protect-Outdoor-Extension-Cord-Cover-and-Plug-Protection-Orange-TSCP-OR-1003-BL/300066025?modalType=drawer. But as far as I know, there is no extension cord available that can safely connect underwater. Use a heavy duty three prong (grounded) cord of the shortest length you can get away with, 14awg would be OK, 12awg would be better. The pump should be connected to a GFCI outlet and you should be sure that the outlet itself has a "weatherproof while in use" cover. Here's an example https://www.homedepot.com/p/Intermatic-1-Gang-Extra-Duty-Plastic-In-Use-Electrical-Outlet-Cover-in-Green-WP5100GN/311746439?modalType=drawer If you don't have a GFCI outlet or circuit you can buy a portable one, or an outdoor extension cord like this one https://www.homedepot.com/p/Leviton-15-Amp-Straight-Blade-Portable-GFCI-with-25-ft-Cord-Set-Molded-On-NEMA-Plug-5-15P-and-Connector-5-15R-Black-GFA15-25C/301971300?modalType=drawer with a built in GFCI. The pump itself draws around 6 amps, so, while it would be better to connect it to it's own dedicated circuit, if you have an existing outlet that also supplies outdoor lighting, you should be OK unless you are also powering a bazillion Christmas lights on the same circuit. I'm betting that you have a beautiful pond and a beautiful yard, so I hope this advice helps.

The pump gets submerged in water and then pushes water out the top. The knob on side can be used to slow/restrict the flow. Typically people will attach some tubing if you want to run the water up to say a waterfall feature to trickle down or a fountain to aerate the water. Eventually the pump can get full of algae if the water is exposed to sunlight so it is normally a good idea to put the pump in some type of filter box.

Overall this is a good strong pump. Use it for a whisky barrel fountain. There is a piece if incorrect information on the packaging. It states the threaded part after the flow control valve is 3/4 inch when, in fact, it is 1/2 inch. Other than that, works great.

(What's this)
I needed to replace the pump i had in my small pond. I thought this pump would be a good choice. The pump Has 4 suction cups on the bottom of the pump to keep it in place. The cord is a great length at 16 feet long. The pump comes with an attachment that screws on the pump to adjust the flow rate. It takes a 1/2 inch hose that is not included. There is no filter on this pump.I'm a little worried that that may be a problem down the line. As of now there are no issues and I am happy with my choice.

(What's this)
I am using this pump to supply a spillway waterfall at a small pond. It comes with a water flow control valve for a 3/4" hose, which is great. I have 2 ponds and have used various submersible pumps in the past, and this is the first one of any volume I have gotten with that feature. The power cord is really long. This pond is about 30" deep and the spillway unit is just above the edge of the pond so I don't have a lot of elevation, but it puts out a nice flow of water. The pump is assembled so you can attach the hose, place it, and plug it in. I put mine in a submersible plant basket and covered it with rocks to keep leaves and bigger debris from fouling the intake, but other than that it's ready to go.

I got this Total Pond Model DD11330 pump as a replacement pump for my fountain. The Model DD11330 pump I received is different from that listed on the Home Depot product page. It has been redesigned and now uses 3/4" tubing, has a maximum pumping height of 7.2' at zero gallons and has a two year warranty. It also looks very different. It measures 5.5" long, 2" wide, and 3" high without the flow control attached. It has a 16' cord, flow control, and uses only 27 watts of power. There are 4 suction cups on the bottom to secure it. It has a powerful flow for such a small pump. The flow rate table for this pump is as follows: For 6' lift, 79 GPH For 5' lift, 148 GPH For 4' lift, 185 GPH For 3' lift, 219 GPH For 2' lift, 264 GPH For 1' lift, 303 GPH

GOOD PRODUCT FROM A HELPFUL COMPANY
After trying to determine the correct size pump for a water feature I was building, I finally contacted TOTAL POND for advice and direction. I spoke with a young lady, Nicole, who was very helpful and who quickly allayed my concerns. I bought the pump she suggested (the 330 GPH Pond Pump) and it's easily as strong as I needed. I was very impressed with her knowledge and pleasant customer service as she guided me through the process of selecting the appropriate pump. I purchased the pump, filter box, 1/2" tubing, a set of three landscape and pond LED lights for nighttime enjoyment and a couple other items for the project which came out beautifully. I've received several compliments about it already and couldn't be happier with the results.
