About This Product

The Tectite by Apollo 1/2 in. Push-To-Connect x 3/8 in. O.D. Compression Quarter-Turn Angle Stop Valve is designed to control water flow to plumbing fixtures such as toilets and faucets. The Angle Stop Valve is used where the water pipe enters the room to allow for easy shut-off of water flow to the end fixture allowing for maintenance and repair without having to turn water off to the entire home. The 3/8 in. O.D. male compression outlet allows for the integration of supply lines for connection to the end fixture. Tectite by Apollo push-to-connect stop valves are the cleanest and simplest way to gain flow control on copper, CPVC, PE-RT and PEX pipe without the use of tools, solder, open flame or glue. Simply insert the pipe to allow the high-strength stainless steel teeth to grip the pipe securely against the specially designed O-ring. Stop valve removal and reuse is just as simple using a simple demount clip (sold separately). After assembly, fittings may be rotated for simpler installation in tight spaces. All Tectite by Apollo stop valves are approved for use in both potable water and hydronic heating piping systems.

Q:After installation, should the valve rotate relatively freely on the copper pipe? I have to hold the valve body to turn the valve on and off to prevent it from rotating.

Answer This Question

A:  Yes, it is normal for the fitting to be able to rotate 360° around the copper pipe.

Q:After installing this on a PEX pipe for a laundry room sink, there is no water flowing! When I turned on the valve after turning on the water, I did feel a distinct thud, so I think there is water in the line. What is the white tube I see in the image of the stop valve? Is that a tube liner that I needed to take and install first?

    Answer This Question

A:  Is there another valve in the line that may be shut-off? All Tectite push fittings are sold with a white tube liner in each inlet/outlet. If using PEX pipe, keep the white tube liner in and if using copper or CPVC, take the white tube liner out.

A:  My bad! I was turning the faucet left and right for hot and cold. I had to pull the lever towards me to open the faucet. All good, thank you!

Q:How many times can this push to connect fitting be removed and reinstalled without undue risk of leakage?

        Answer This Question

A:  If you do it correctly with a tool and recut the end of the pipe you should be able to do it as many times as you wish. But if the pipe does not connect or disconnect properly you can damage the connections. Always best to just do it correctly once.

        by|Nov 25, 2020

A:  As long as the Tectite fitting is removed with a push fitting removal tool or demount clip and the end of the pipe has been squarely cut, you may reuse the push fittings as many times as you would like.

          Answer This Question

A:  Snark, when you rotate the 1/4 turn handle you are turning a chrome-plated brass ball inside of the valve body.

These are a lifesaver if you have a situation where the valve is connected directly to Pex tubing and you don’t have any Pex tooling. Cut tubing and press on and you’re good to go. This is an excellent option.
