As ALWAYS, Teks self-tapping fasteners are the only fastener in my experience that TRULY self-taps through the hardened steel body of Bluebird buses. All the other so-called “self tapping” screws need to be pre-drilled” - or they don’t penetrate.

Nice screws for mounting corrugated roofing.
BACKGROUND: I have several steel sheds and want to put corrugated metal roofing over the (thin) existing roof. The Teks #12 Hex Washer drill screws looked perfect for the job. FIT AND FINISH: I have used other Teks fasteners before ant these were the same high quality appearance and feel. FEATURES: • Teks Elite drill point roofing screws (225-pack) are designed with stronger holding power and improved waterproofing. o The #12 screw is a beast. • Maximum seal (TM) self-sealing neoprene washer provides improved coverage of the screw aiding in better waterproofing in harsh outdoor environments, even when fasteners are driven at an angle. o The washers are thick enough and soft enough to provide a good seal. • Hi-Grip (TM) threading helps secure the fastener with stronger holding power, minimizing the need for rework. o Not sure how well this works with corrugated roofing, but it’s there if you need it. • Shank guard (TM) feature reams out the hole during install, protecting the fastener's shaft and washer from sharp metal frays that could strip the protective Climaseal coating. o This is handy as it de-burs the hole in the roofing. But you do need to make sure none of the drill and reaming chips are under the neoprene washer when driving the screw down. • Finally, the self-tap drill point assists in secure metal-to-metal fastening. o This is very handy compared to standard screws. • Premium finish provides exceptional corrosion resistance in harsh outdoor environments. o Time will tell. INSTALLATION AND USE: The screws use a 5/16” hex head driver. They held snugly in my cheap magnetic driver bit. I did have to be careful when starting the screws as the blunter drill point would walk off the top of the corrugation. Once started they drilled, tapped, reamed, and snugged down easily. SUMMARY: Great for corrugated roofing work. PROS: Hex head easy to drive. Weather resistant coating. Good seal washer. CONS: None PHOTO CAPTIONS: 1. 225 count in this bucket. 2. Nice configuration for roofing. 3. Drove in easy and snugged down well.

Easy to use and quality screws with gasket
Quality screws with gasket that make your job easier to complete. You don't have to predrill a metal roof when using these screws. The screws come with a bit like end so all you have to do is get your 5/16 socket and place the screw on your metal roof and it does the drilling and attachment all in one step. The gasket is already attached so you don't even have to place it on each screw. The screw and gasket make a water tight job so that you will not have any leaks when it rains. Love these screws for fastening my roof material (metal or other material) to my beams.

          Decent roofing screws
These Teks roofing screws do the job they are designed to accomplish. I have the 1-1/2” long screws to attach metal to a wood frame barn. I used a battery drill with a 5/16 hex bit. The screw drill points easily penetrated the metal sheets and went into the wood frame. The screw thread is course enough to hold tight in the wood or a metal frame. The screw head and metal washer are combined with a gasket attached. No gaskets or washers fell off this brand. The screws are coated to prevent rust and the finish is nicer than a hot dipped galvanized finish.

For more then just metal roofs.
These screws do a good job of fastening metal roofing to both wood and metal rafters. They drill nice, and the dual threads ensure that they grip tight no mater what you drill them into. The gaskets do a good job of preventing leeks. You don't normally have to calk the holes, saving a lot of time. Besides fastening down metal roofing, they also work well for attaching other things to your rood. I needed to attach a tripod to my garage rood for my weather station. They not only hold well, but the washers actually compress into the holes in the brackets giving me a nice seal. I am not worried about the tripod coming off the roof or the holes leaking.

          Excellent
I have used Teks screws when I was working construction and now that I am retired and needed to do some metal work I returned to tried and true. I never had a leak after many years of using these fasteners. A hammer drill/impact driver and a box of these and you can fasten metal roofing to metal or wood substrate. I highly recommend impact for metal to metal… I have a gate through which my dog can escape; using a metal strap and these screws I attached a 2 X 4 to the bottom of the gate and gained peace of mind.

Tap, Drill and Seal, All in One Motion
These Teks #12 x 1-1/2 in. Steel External Hex Head Washer Drill Point Elite Roofing Screws (225-Pack) are strong and have tremendous holding power. The thing I have always loved about self-tapping screws is, you don’t have to drill a pilot hole, which you must do if you are not using a self-tapper. The way they design the drill point and the flute at the tip makes it possible to just load the screw on your driver and drive it in. In addition, they include a self-sealing neoprene washer on each screw, sealing the hole as you go. It’s a huge time saver because you tap-drill-and seal all in one motion. And finally, each screw is coated with corrosion resistant Climacoat that prevents rust. They are called roofing screws, but I use them for numerous applications. Anytime you need to fasten something to metal, these screws will work.

Why pay more for Teks Elite roofing screws, here's why.
With the high cost of screws, you want to make sure you get what you pay for. All Teks self-tapping screws are sharp and fast. Important to get a job done quickly. But the Elite adds a special shank that removes the metal bur produced by the drill point. I have included a picture showing the shank with the reaming section of the shank. This feature is important so you don't destroy the washer or the finish on the screw. Other features I like are (1) a Clip on the inside of the case to hold the 5/16 hex bit. (2) A strong handle for carrying. The lock on the case is a bit too strong. It can be hard to open at times. Teks #12 x 1-1/2 in. Not just for metal roofs. The self tapping drills through steel better than my metal drill bits.
I ordered these Teks #12 x 1-1/2 in steel hex head washer drill point roofing screws. They have a 5/16" hex head. They were packaged nicely and arrived without any damage to the plastic tub. I didn't actually get these for a metal roof. I got them for a couple of projects i have planned to. I am always building something or doing some sort of DIY project when im not working. A few months ago, I got a welder and started playing with metal. These screws will come on handy for fastening metal to metal builds to wood. Each screw is equipped with a water tight washer to prevent leaks from your roof or other project. The label on the plastic tub states that these are sold as is and not liable for any fastener failures. If the product is found to be faulty, the most they will do is replace or refund the screws. I understand this from a business perspective because some people may install these improperly and then try to sue the company for a damaged roof. But from a consumer standpoint, it looks like they don't stand behind their product or take responsibility if their product fails. Luckily, I dont have to worry about this because, as I said, I am not using these for a roof. The screws look and feel well made. I think im more excited about the little bucket that holds the screws than I am about the screws. The bucket has a nice handle for transportating. The cover can be opened for easy access to the screws. The cover also locks shut when not in use. After I use up all of these screws I will be keeping the container because it's so nice. Although I didn't need these for my project yet, I did want to test them out and see how they perform for this review. I don't think I've ever used a self tapper that drilled so smoothly and quickly. It was like drilling with a drill bit. I just scrapped most of the metal lying around my house, but I managed to find 2 x 1/4" angled steel brackets and a wooden 2" x 4". The outside of the steel might have some rust, but they are still hardened steel on the inside. I used my little Ryobi impact, and the screw just drove through the 2 pieces of steel and wood like a hot knife through butter. All 3 pieces stuck together tightly, and the washer flattened for a leak tight seal. I have used self tapping screws before, and it takes quite a few turns and a good amount of pressure to get them started. Not with these screws. I didn't apply much pressure, and they just drilled through everything in maybe a second or 2. I strongly recommend these and not just for metal roofs.
