I needed to replace the decking on the 8' x 12' utility trailer I built some years back. I originally used 3/4" plywood sheets stacked 2 thick for it but this time I used 2" x 8" treated lumber and needed something that would hold them down and still be easily removed in case a board got damaged. I was going to drill pilot holes and use screws but didn't think they would hold up to the stresses. Them I found these and it was PERFECT!!! They have a large head to support the boards and most important they were self tapping. My son and I attached all of them in less than 90 minutes and it is stronger than ever.

Self tapping screws with wings.
I just replace the wood decking on my 10 x 6 trailer. I had to use a grinder with cutoff wheel to remove most of the old screws after prying off the wood. Obviously, there were no 1/4-20 holes left to screw in new retaining screws. The angle iron that needed to be penetrated was over 1/8 in thick. These screws in combination with a DeWalt driver cut right through the steel with not a lot of effort. I highly recommend these for any similar project.

Great product. Worked them through some decently thick sheet metal roof supports. Little less than quarter inch.
Only reason four stars not five is because the term "self-tapping" can be misleading. You still need to pre drill a small guide hole to use them if you dont have a heavy duty drill or impact wrench.
