rough opening framing for this 16 × 20 niche

AnswersNo the rough opening is 18x13 1/2, the overall outer dimension including the lips is 16x20. I oriented it with the 20" side horizontally and it seems to be of good quality. I have not finished it out yet but it should be easy to tile with mastek and whatever tile a person wants to use. I couldbt find an easier way to create a niche in the shower

Answers13 1/2x 18 rough in. The lips overhang the studs and pre drilled countersunk holes in the niche allow screws for securing it to the framework

Redi Niche Shampoo Soap Niche
Previously purchased this niche for a basement bathroom shower installation and the contractor installed it into place. The tile person tiled the interior of the niche using a 24" X 12" tile. The niche is a hard plastic and durable, not flimsy. This review is for the recent purchase of same for a main floor bathroom remodel using this to replace ceramic enameled shelves in the corner of the tub wall. Current niche will need an 18" tile to be cut to fit the back walls of this niche. A 12" square tile is too small for the back walls. Thanks for a great product that was easy to install by our contractor and tile by our tile person. Home Depot had prompt shipment and a lower price than from the company that manufacturers this niche.
