Q:How do I close off a sprinkler outlet? Is there a Toro end cap sprinkler head?

Answer This Question
A: I don’t believe Toro makes an end cap for a sprinkler body.
You should be able to turn the radius adjustment screw in the center of the nozzle all the way down so the spray is blocked. Or you could remove the sprinkler body and put on a PVC threaded cap (1/2”). These are available at the big box stores. You might want to install a riser extension to keep the cap visible.

A: To cap off a spray head, you can use a 1/2” PVC cap on your riser.

Q:Where do I locate this sprinkler if I have a 4ft x 28 ft area to water?

Answer This Question
A: I am attaching an illustration and a recommendation.
End strip: To irrigate a rectangular area with an end strip nozzle, the nozzle location is in the center of one of the short sides of the rectangle.
Side strip: The nozzle location is in the center of one of the long sides of the rectangle.
Center strip: The nozzle is in the center of the rectangle – (at the intersection of the “X” if you were to draw straight lines between the corners of the rectangle.
To cover a 4’ X 28’ strip of turf, I would use nozzle model #53873. You will need to slightly tighten the screw in the top-center of the nozzle to reduce the distance from 30’ down to 28’.
- Toro nozzles are male-threaded and only work with Toro pop-ups
- If you are installing/replacing a 4” pop-up, you will want to use Toro model #53821

THis nozzle works like previous Toro's end strip. The ones that spray 2 directions that I got do NOT. They are designed to spray 2 direction from the edge of the sidewalk and not from the center of the strip as previous ones did. I had to reposition a new sprinkler head after I got these.
