Product Overview

The Toro Blue Stripe 1/2 in. x 500 ft. Drip Tubing is manufactured via a patented process with a 3-layer construction consisting of two strong outer layers and a muscular, flexible inner core. The large inner diameter enables longer runs than smaller-diameter tubing, the same as products used in commercial farms. It is UV resistant and has been consistently tested in agriculture and greenhouse applications.
  • Designed to work with Toro Blue stripe drip-irrigation products
  • Large inner diameter allows installation of long runs of tubing
  • 1 to 60 psi pressure rating
  • Linear low-density polyethylene tubing is made from high-grade polyethylene resins
  • 3-layer Matrix technology for improved strength and flexibility
  • Minimum 2% carbon black UV inhibitor added for resistance to sunlight deterioration
  • Conforms to A.S.A.E. standards for minimum inside diameter and wall thickness
  • Dimensions = .710 O.D. x .620 I.D.
  • California residents

We do not currently sell barbed fittings into this channel. We recommend using our Tri-Lock fittings, but Toro barbed fittings for .71OD tubing may be available through a Toro distributor. Thank you.

Thank you for your question. Draining your system should give it ample protection. Drip systems designed for low-pressure. Applying an extremely high amount of pressure during the blowout process could cause damage to tubing, connections, or fittings.

Sure. You can connect it to any high pressure pump just don't exceed the PSI rating that Toro has for this tubing.

Is this all I need to set up irrigation

Asked by Brenda September 10, 2016

Answer

As a minimum, you would also need a connection point and an end closure. For an ideal installation, you would also incorporate pressure regulation, backflow prevention, and filtration. Some options: Connection Point: Toro model 53701 Preferred Connection Point: Toro model 53756 (includes pressure regulator, filter, vacuum breaker, and swivel connector) End Closure: Toro model 53705 • If Couplings, Elbows, or T’s are required: Toro models 53702, 53703, and 53704 respectively

Most 1/2" end caps will work just fine. Or go the cheaper route and get end clamps.

Toro doesn’t seem to make (or at least sell) fittings such as elbows and T’s for this distribution line. Had to buy Orbit lock fittings which work well, but they can be hard to find in stock. Line kinks easily, but I’m not sure if that’s typical of the 1/2”. Mostly bought this because it’s food safe, but if I had to do it again I’d probably go with DIG or another brand.

I use this around ALL of my trees, watering as close to the tree dripline as possible. Great product. I use the 1/4" version for smaller trees/bushes and veg garden applications.

Nice product
It worked for its intended purpose. You do have to be very careful that you don't kink it during a bend. If it kinks it is hard to get it not to kink in that same spot.
