Q:If the unit is 12.75 inches tall, why do you need a 19 inch minimum window opening height? My window measures 14.25 inches for the opening height. Will this unit fit?

A: Hi, there will be a mounting rail attached to the top of the unit for stabilizing. That rail is around 2-3 inches high. Your window might be a little too small to fit in.

I'm not as happy with this one as I am...

I'm not as happy with this one as I am with the 8,000 BTU Hisense I bought last summer for my living room but honestly it's too soon to tell. It's substantially larger than the Hisense and I don't think these sensors work quite as well for maintaining room temperature but we'll see. We're coming into Autumn so temps are all over the place. It was a decent price for a unit of this size and as long as it cools the room next summer with a level of efficiency I did ok. We'll see. Check out the Hisense 8,000 BTU unit. I do like it better on multiple levels.

TOSOT has a nice modern look. The install was as expected for a window unit. It does seem a little loud, as there has been a few complaints about. It does seem to struggle to cool the space, definitely in eco mode. It defaults to eco mode when you first turn on as most new units seem to do as well.
