can this be used for a heating element in an oven

Are these suitable for connecting wire to dishwasher heating element? Can you tell me what specs are required?

Answer

I would use something more heavy duty - I used them for a bath fan + rocker switch and the rated current for the fan is 8 Amps. Have had no problems. But the higher current on the washer heater (10 A) + proximity of the connector to the heating element (I'm guessing) would concern me some.

Answer

As noted in the previous answer, the amp rating is 15a. They are certainly fine for house current, however, you would need to ensure the line is only 15a. In a house, some are 15a and some 20a, it depends on how and when the house was built... On a side note - wire nuts work well, as long as you have the correct size.

Can I use these in place of copper disconnects on a heating element (clothes dryer)?

Asked by Roger August 8, 2016

Answer

No, the dryer element will draw up to 30 Amps. These connectors although rated for 600V, only have an amp rating of up to 15 amps.

These female connectors do have the crimps for the wire sheathing and only crimp into the bare copper wire. Even with a klein tools crimper the connectors pull right off. Do not use. Im getting old fashioned female connectors and heat shrink tubes.

This disconnect is rated for 16 - 14 Awg wire. You will be real lucky if you can get 20 ga wire inserted. They are absolutely horrible to try to crimp. Save yourself some time and go to your local hardware for a better connector.
