Coconut coir has become my go-to for all of my potted plants, raised gardens, and seed starting pots. From the very first time I used it I saw incredible results – it produced the fastest growing, healthiest plants in my garden. Now I mix it into all my soil for water retention and to improve the organic content of the soil, and I also put a layer on top of the soil to act as a mulch. This is great stuff!

This potting medium is very easy to work with. It is lightweight and airy, and it blends well with regular potting mix for transplanting plants into various sized pots. The bag is easy to handle due to the light material, so pouring it into pots is quick and easy. I have high-hopes for the plants I’ve potted with the mix and certainly recommend it.

The Viagrow 1.5 cu. ft. Coco Coir Buffered Premium Coconut Growing Medium 50L./52.8 qt./13.2 G. is a wonderfully light weight soil amendment. We are using it to help add nutrients and loosen up our clay dirt prior to planting. We poured one 5 gallon bucket over the block and by the time we filled up the second 5 gallon bucket the block was already starting to break apart. We did help break it up a bit to help it along and then just walked away for about an hour and a half. Came back to a wheelbarrow filled with a beautiful soft and fluffy medium. We just stirred it a bit to mix in all the water. It was a tad wet, but since this medium dries out fairly quickly it was no biggie. We have used it to sprinkle on top of our planted pots and in one particularly dry flower bed. It looks like a brown mulch so it improves the look of our landscaping. We like the idea of the nutrients sinking down over time so not to give our plants a big shock. But we will be using some to mix into in the ground to help improve our clay soil as we add more plants. We are excited to see how this lovely organic medium improves our plants and soil.

The Viagrow Coco Coir Buffered Premium Coconut Growing Medium is great for potted plants and for starting seeds. Its stable pH make this coir a great hydroponic and soil-less growing medium. However, as Coco Coir has no nutrients on it's own, you will need to provide additional fertilizer for your plants. Also, adding Perlite will help increase drainage.

1.5 cu. ft. Coco Coir Buffered Premium Coconut Growing Medium 50L./52.8 qt./13.2 G. This is the first time I am trying this coconut coir product for growing plants in the pots. I have mixed it in with the potting soil and do hope that it holds up. Hope that my tomato plants grow healthy. Per the product label, it is chemical free, disease and pathogen free which is a plus. Comes in a good size bag and nicely packaged. Did not have any rips.

This is a quality, premium bag of coco coir growing medium that is a perfect additive to most soil/potting regimens. The coco coir should definitely be used with water-loving plants due to to its ability to retain water; however, you can use it with most types of plants provided that you are mixing your soils with different components such as perlite etc. The coco coir is a finely ground medium that will expand when water is added to it! Highly recommend you try this medium with your next potted plants!

Viagrow Coco Coir Buffered 50L bag contains ready to use 100% coconut pith fiber. This is the first time I have tried this product but have heard great things in regards to gardening. We were adding additional plants to our garden and this arrived at the perfect time. The product is ready to use, as recommended added potting soil and made a nice mixture. The color is a nice rich brown and fine texture. It has a similar consistency to soil and can be used indoors or outdoors. Viagrow Buffered Coco Coir is completely natural, renewable, plant growing media made from coconut husk and coconut fibers . It is a great alternative to peat moss and absorbs large amounts of water, lowering watering frequency. It was so easy to work with, very happy with the product. Time will tell as we watch the plants grow.

My favorite secret sauce for plant propagation. Acts as both a soil amendment, and compost-able cooling mulch. I like to propagate plants. The initial rooting fibers don't like rough soil. They need a neutral medium to send out their fibrous roots. I've come to really appreciate coco coir for this purpose. It holds moisture well, and provides an easy path for the roots to grab on. I usually mix it with some other material including perhaps perlite, sand or composted plant matter. Viagrow also sells a similar product with perlite built in which is excellent for propagation. This summer has been a bit dry and hot and I kind of accidentally discovered a wonderful use for the pure coco coir. I add it as a layer of mulch to the top of my potted outdoor plants. (I have tomatoes and peppers in pots.) I find that this material both shields the soil and holds enough moisture that may eventually evaporate, but in the process helps cool the soil. Nice! Sometimes you need a fine mulch for fine plantings. The actual product came very well screened to a fine consistency with no clumps. It was slightly moist, but not wet. There were zero signs of mold or other issues. It is fine enough to fall through the drainage holes in some pots, so bottom layers may need amendments to avoid falling through the holes.

The 1.5 cu. ft. Coco Coir Buffered Premium Coconut Growing Medium 50L./52.8 qt./13.2 G by Viagrow is great for most planting needs. I like the Viagrow Coco Coir is all-natural and I mixed it with compost and topsoil to get the best result. The coconut coir does require some effort to break up before use. I soaked it with water in a larger bucket for a day. The coconut coir expands quite a bit, I stored the extra in bags for future use. The coconut coir helps retain moisture and is providing better aeration than soil alone. The coco coir has a natural smell but that does not bother me at all. The roots of my plants seem quite healthy since they were able to go around the coconut coir as compared to soil alone. This is a good product.

This mulch type peat product is very easy to mix with other potting soils or amenities, I like that it is ecologically made from coconut husk and is not filling our landfills as waste. It has great moisture retention and I am using it on top of dirt and in the mixtures of potting soils to retain water. It is natural and has no chemical additives for those out there that are trying to grow plants organically. This is a product that has so many benefits, the info on the bag gives a good description on the many features.

I am glad this Coconut coir is very loose; this allows me to get straight to work! I mix the Coir with my backyard soil about a 50/50 mix and place the mix into a pot for my plants. You could also mix the Coir directly into your existing garden. It works really well that way too. The coir also works very well with seedlings. In this case I go either 100% Coir or 75/25 Coir/backyard soil. The Coir soaks up water well enough to bet moist and wet, allowing the excess to drain through the bottom of the pot. Moist retention is good for the average gardener. Very easy to use and best when mixing with your backyard soil.

Most of the potting and garden soil I have purchased recently has been laced with twigs, sticks, and the occasional piece of plastic or wire. Not exactly what I want in my garden beds or pots. So I thought I would try this coconut husk growing medium. I'm glad I did. This stuff looks more like soil than the soils I have purchased lately. It is finely ground, compacts nicely while still allowing water to flow through it and it is organic! NOTE: THIS ISN'T SOIL! It lacks nutrients to feed your plants, but it is an excellent addition to your garden soil that improves air and water flow. I can spend money on better quality soil now and make it go further by adding this growing medium. Time will tell how my plants like it.

I got this for various plants, shrubs, vegetables and grass. It's very similar to peat moss. Seems to work great in retaining water so that you can use less water. I also spread it around the lawn since it's been dry. Hopefully it will keep lawn moist longer. It can be mixed with the soil and used for any type of planting. Definitely recommend this product.

This coco coir growing medium is very nice. According to the manufacturer, it's been cleaned and purified so that I shouldn't have to worry about mold, fungus, or any type of bacteria that could hamper any attempts to root/propagate my plants. I'm hoping to root a fig cutting (see pictures). I've tried rooting fig cutting with plain potting soil and ALL of them failed. The videos I watched mostly used some form of coco coir to root cuttings. This growing medium is relatively moist, and seems to hold water well without getting soggy.

VIAGROW 1.5 CU. FT. COCO COIR BUFFERED PREMIUM COCONUT GROWING MEDIUM 50L./52.8 QT./13.2 G. For many years I have had to battle poor soil around my house and garden. The main reason is the silt that makes up the soil. I live not far from a river and between the silt and sand keeping the soil hydrated can be very difficult if not impossible. Silt, when dry becomes hard as a brick and water runs off of it like water off a ducks back. Sand causes water to drain away . Viagrow coir soaks up and helps hold water. Your plants roots will grow in this treated soil easily and thrive. A few years ago I noticed a woman's yard about 4 blocks away that looked just lush and green. Wile talking to her about the gardens, she explained to me about the use of coconut fiber. I have found that many soil additives contain coir but no were near enough for my needs. So I went to the internet. My search revealed that Home Depot offered coir online that I could pickup at my favorite store. Since then problem solved! Mix this coconut fiber with Kellogg planter mix, found at Home Depot garden area. You can also add more perlite this helps aerate soil, also in the garden area. Another plus from coir is that it doesn't break down over time. Once treated it's going to last for years. Viagrow provides you with a high quality fiber that's buffered, salt washed out,in 2 different forms. Loose or compressed in a brick.

If I could fill my ground soil with this medium cost effectively I would, but as a potted plant/raised bed medium I really love this coconut coir. I already use this in my raised herb planter and my herbs are flourishing in this soft loamy medium. I also just filled a large growing bag with this medium to seed some rainbow carrots and am excited to see how it performs.

The VIAGROW 1.5 CU. FT. COCO COIR BUFFERED PREMIUM COCONUT GROWING MEDIUM 50L./52.8 QT./13.2 G seems to be a great alternative soilless potting soil versus the standard potting soil. My product arrived undamaged. I used this new variance of potting soil on two indoor house plants. I like the texture and feel of this new style of potting soil. It seems to hold the moisture well. Time will tell on how well the plants do in this soilless potting media. So far I like the product!!

I have never heard of this stuff but wanted to give it a try in my garden I am glad I did! It is made of shredded coconut husks and can be used as both potting soil and mulch. I got it for my potted vegetable garden and used it while transplanting one of my squash plants. It is so easy to work with; it holds moisture after watering and its porous quality allows roots to grow and absorb nutrients. Plus it looks good! I will be getting more of this.

Make your green thumb greener. I like to grow all sorts of plants and house plants, vegetable and fruit trees. Viagrow Coconut Coir is perfect for starting seeds and a medium for all my plants. Depending on what you will utilize the product you can mix it with your favorite soil or soil amendment. It provides good drainage to your potting mixes. I think if you utilize the product without any amendments you would be moving into hydroponics growing that is why I mix it with other soils. Normally Coconut Coir comes in a form of solid dried bricks. You would have to soak to allow it to expand into 3 or 4 times its original size. Viagrow coco coir comes ready to use, which is great. The grow medium don’t weigh much and is an added plus to save your back.
