Thank you for your question! These garden staples are 100% recyclable and are designed to dissolve back into the soil.
One pack of 25 staples is good for 25 linear feet, since the suggested placement is 12 inches apart around edges. It is suggested to use more around plants. If a 5'x5' area with plants is being covered, at least 2 packs will be needed.
While these staples are designed for landscape fabric, they might be too large for 1/4 inch drip irrigation tubing. The product description indicates they are 3.5 inches long and designed for heavier materials like landscape fabric and sod. Using these staples might damage the tubing. You may want to consider smaller staples or specialized clips designed for irrigation tubing.
I am using these now. Answer to you question... YES!!! I went on and used what I had. I will be looking for rust resistant. I don't want to have to go back and replace all these I have used, but got a feeling that's what I'll have to do.
These rusted after 2 weeks!
They do rust. I use these for my patio mats at my campground,, and only for 6 months. At the end of the season, when I go to pull up my mats, these staples are all rusted.

Hi Angie. Thank you for shopping at The Home Depot. According to the product description, each staple is 2.31 mm (about 0.09 in) thick. Please let us know if we can be of further assistance. Rick_HD_OC
We usually place these appr 18? apart but in larger areas we space them as much as 18? apart on seams and 24? - 36? in the middle of a run of fabric. If your area isn?t mostly flat you might want to place them closer.
