Very poor description of the product. Wood is three dimensional but only two dimensions are given. What is the width and depth?

It’s a “square dowel”, width and height are the same.

        Answer This Question

This 36" x 0.5" x 0.5" square dowel is made of basswood, a wood often used for whittling. While some community members answered "no" to its suitability for whittling, others said "yes". The product description doesn't mention any chemical treatments. For specific concerns about chemical composition, it's best to contact the manufacturer, Waddell.

Piece was exactly what I needed to close the gap between my bathroom vanity and the wall. Well made, smooth and not warped.

I actually used this rod for a different purpose for what it was intended. I specifically need a 1 inch spacer for the gap between my kitchen cabinets and the wall. There are no 1 inch wood trim pieces that are exactly 1 inch, and the price was much cheaper than an oak trim piece that I would have had to cut down. I also prefer the pine because is doesn't have the open pores of the oak that I would have had to fill in to match my cabinet look.

What can I say. They are wooden dowels for a decorative project at home. They were smooth and more importantly straight. Easy to cut with shears. Wish they had a longer version.

            Wrong material
Delivery was great same day. The wood is good, with no warping. Problem is I paid more for the hardwood option, and pine was delivered. Guess that's on me for not going and getting it myself.

              False advertising
I bought this dowel because it was listed as being hardwood. However, what I received was actually pine, which is a softwood. Either this is false advertising, bait-and-switch, or just poor inventory management on the part of HD.

I used these wood pieces to make window frames, which I attached sunscreen on. I used a staple gun to attach it to the wood using the 1/4 inch staples. Then instead of installing them outside, I put them on the inside so they would be out of the elements and make them last longer. By using the sunscreen and installing blackout curtains, I've been able to drop the heat inside those east facing windows.

I'm not sure what their main purpose is but I used these to extend a window jam an inch before I trimmed it out. A little glue, a little spackle, and some paint, worked perfectly.
