It has a poppet with Buna-N O-ring, stem guide and wide channel for maximum flow. It's rated at 200 psi. It's built to last long and it's spring-loaded and manufactured with high-quality brass.

As long as the valve is under water, you should be able to position the valve as needed. My valve is mounted on a 45 degree angle.

Are the female threads STRAIGHT pipe threads or TAPERED

Seems like plain npt. I cut and threaded a pipe and it fit good.

It's wise to use the strainer. It keeps the debris from clogging your pump.

I used this to pull water from underground tanks, about 18’ below surface. This foot valve worked great for keeping the line primed with water. I was impressed with how easy the valve opens to accept water. You could throw this in a pond, jig it and it will prime your entire suction hose with easy. Awesome!

I bought this to replace one I bought 10 years ago. I returned it because the 10 year old one that I thought was failing was not the problem. That said, these things last at least 10 years submerged in a lake.
