I need to purchase a repair kit for my water source 5 foot hydrant is one available

Asked by Ou812 December 22, 2020

Answer

The Everbuilt Hydrant Repair kit should work regardless of the hydrant’s height. The long center rod and long pipe are not being replaced. You will have to disassemble the top to get the bottom rubber piece in (remove casting off pipe). Lloydd

Can a handle be purchased separately? The one on our pump broke in half.

Yes, here's the link for model YHH-BLUE: https://www.homedepot.com/p/Water-Source-Blue-Frost-Proof-Yard-Hydrant-Handle-YHH-BLUE/204289769

When I left the handle no water comes out. I have used it 5 years.

You are not lifting up the ball seal on the bottom. Check your shaft sticking up thru the packing seal in the middle of your blue top piece when you move the handle. Probably the shaft is not moving because of a loose set screw at the top.

how do you install a replacement water hydrant

Answer

You need to first dig a water line from you main source to the hydrant. It must be below your frost depth in your area. Attach a 3/4” elbow to the bottom of the hydrant and attach water line. Backfill with stone. If you are questioning the procedure please call us at 844-251-7446 to discuss.

Answer

Thanks for contacting the Everbilt Team. Yes this unit will fit a Clayton Mark unit if you are replacing the entire unit. If you are only looking for parts we suggest you call us at 844-251-7446 as we do have the complete rebuilt kits, including the head, to repair a Clayton Mark hydrant.

Does this include the shut-off valve at the bottom? And how about the rod and ball that initiates the valve closure?

Yes all these parts are of the assembly or hydrant.

The hydrant I recently purchased was marked, “Not for potable water supply”. Why do I need a hydr...

Hydrants, like garden hoses etc. are marked as non-potable water for code reasons. Because we have no clue if the water being used has been examined to be potable. But people drink from hydrants and garden hoses every day. It's a code that must appear on many items sold in garden sections. Remember someone could be pumping chemicals with a hydrant and garden hose and someone who drank from the device could ingest the chemicals. So this is the reasoning behind the marking. You can do whatever you please to do with hydrants, garden hoses etc. Codes are just that...codes that manufacturers must adhere to or they are penalized.

Do you have to bury it 5 ft or just to frost level

Frost level at your location. You don't gain anything burying deeper. The requirement is that the water must be able to drain out when the handle is down (off position) or not freeze in the pipe.

Is the end male or female?
