    Q:Can this replace a 3/4 in valve?
    by|Jan 26, 2024
    1 Answer
    Answer This Question

A:  Hi, It will replace a 3/4" valve but not without some piping modifications. You will need to use fitting reducers to transition from 1" to 3/4" and may have to cut out some 3/4" pipe to make it fit.

GET 1" FOR LARGER HOUSES, STEP IT DOWN TO 3/4 pipes - do not use 3/4" regulator in larger houses
Back in 2017, I used this 1" regulator to replace a N35B after reading reviews that the 3/4" Watts would 'whistle' in larger homes. It worked quietly and perfectly. In 2019, I needed water main replaced and plumber replaced my 1" with a 3/4" Apollo regulator - "it will be fine, trust me". Alas, it has whistled and moaned from day one - we joke that, "someone is practicing their tuba". I will be happy to make a recording of the sound. It would be amusing if not for my 5AM garden irrigation cycle! Today, I am on here getting fittings to put the almost-new 1" regulator in series with the "it will be fine" 3/4" regulator. I can't just replace it since plumber used Sharkbite fittings AND put it in front of the shut-off valve. Since I only know how to solder pipe, that's what I must do.

Very high quality valve and easy install
Some of you may be thinking from the image I attached why in the free world would you put a pressure reducing valve in front of a water pressure boosting pump? Well, I needed a way to throttle the city water pressure to a constant rate so that when the booster pump kicks the pressure up by 30psi I'm not blowing out fittings somewhere in my plumbing system. The prices on these valves very wildly with this one being on the low end of the cost spectrum but providing the adjustable psi range that I needed. The valve has only been installed for a week but so far so good. If you need a 1" pressure reducing (pressure regulating) valve for a plumbing project. Look no further. You will be happy with the quality of this valve which is MUCH cheaper than many other valves available from various suppliers.
