Q:What is best way to prevent 1 in. Pressure Vacuum Breaker from functioning if I want to winterize my irrigation system?

A:  Proper draining, insulation using heat tape and heated protective enclosures are all acceptable methods of freeze protection. When draining an assembly to prevent freezing, several important points must be remembered: 1. The assembly cannot be adequately drained through the test air compress hookup. For proper draining follow the instructions detailed in the Drain Procedure section below. 2. Drain valves must be added on the inlet and outlet sides of the assembly, below the assembly (and preferably below the freeze line if the remainder of the system is to be drained).

    Q:Why has it been over a year for HomeDepot to fix the error with this product? The website shows a Watts back flow preventer. When you show up at the store they do NOT have a Watts product but a Zurn product on the shelf. Very disappointing.

        Q:why does water come out from the top black cap when I open the water valve from inside my house? I'm sure its a simple explanation as I'm new to this. I'm only opening it up a bit also to prevent blowing off the cap.

        A:  Replace and/or put some silicon on the O-ring that is located in the black cap. Make sure you have released the pressure before removing this cap. Also, you do not have to screw it in too tight as it could be difficult to unscrew it when needed.

          A:  Open it all the way up. Water shoots out for a second then stops.  Pull up some YouTube videos and you’ll see.

            A:  Home Depot has a variety of sizes of ball valves. I do not think they sell any with bleeders. Watts may sell them, check their site. If you are repairing a similar Vacuum Breaker Assembly, it's probably cheaper to buy a new one.

            Beware
            I got 1 season out of this unit before it cracked and needed to get another. Bought one last week and swapped out the broken unit. Turned it on and water wouldnt stop gushing out the top, so I watched a Youtube video to see what I was doing wrong. Turned out my brand new factory sealed unit was missing multipe pieces inside the bonnet. I called the company and they said they werent surpried and to bring it back. Would have been more professional of them to appologize and offer to send me the missing pieces.

              Web site and store product are not the same
              I bought on line to pick up in store and when I picked up the breaker they gave me was not a Watts brand it was a differnt company. I returned it because that is not what I needed. Home Depot web site and the local store are not on the same page.
