They were small, but I'm a perfectionist and it really annoyed me.
Even though my wife told me it was barely noticeable and that I should leave it alone, I couldn't let it go and decided to add this to the base. I'm glad I did. For ten dollars this small decorative piece makes a world of difference.
It's attractive, easy to install, and adds just a touch of flare that really attracts attention. Because the unit had a bit of gloss on it, I painted it a flat white to match the ceiling fan and it now blends perfectly. It was very easy to paint, and it's virtually indistinguishable from the fan. I put a bead of caulk around the base, although that isn't required, and it now joins the ceiling seamlessly.
Compared to some of the more expensive models you can custom order--or touch at high end lighting stores--this has the same quality at a considerably more affordable price. I liked it so much that I purchased three more to add to the other ceiling fans in my houses bedrooms.
