Is it better to paint the pieces before installing them? Then do you just touch up where the filler goes?
BySep 4, 2025
1 Answer |
Answer This Question

Pre-painting can make the installation process easier, as it reduces the risk of paint drips on floors and walls, and allows for a more precise finish.

Is this moulding strong enough to hang pictures from? Is there enough of a lip on the top for a hook? Thanks!
    ByJun 24, 2024
    1 Answer |
    Answer This Question

Crown molding is primarily decorative and not designed to support the weight of hanging pictures. While it may have a lip, it's not structurally sound enough for this purpose and could result in damage to the molding or the wall. It's best to use appropriate picture hanging hardware installed directly into wall studs or using wall anchors for a secure hold.

Can this MDF crown molding be used on an exterior enclosed porch? Will not see weather. Also does it expand or contract with heat or cold?
    ByApr 8, 2024
    1 Answer |
    Answer This Question

This primed MDF crown moulding is designed for interior use only. While your enclosed porch protects it from direct exposure to weather, MDF is still susceptible to moisture and temperature fluctuations which can cause it to expand and contract, potentially leading to warping or cracking over time. For exterior applications or areas with high humidity, it's generally recommended to use a more moisture-resistant material like PVC or polyurethane moulding.

In general, these are good quality crown mouldings with the exception that a few pieces had some damages in paint and scratches during shipping. The 96 inch (8ft) cut is perfect for my project as I can transport them through tight corners of the stairs to the basement area without having to worry about cutting them first.

Garbage trim. 95% of it covered in chatter marks from the shaper. Returning all of it first thing Monday.

        Product came destroyed
The trim was sent to me all beat up. It even looked like someone else had it before me and tried fixing one of the HUGE chips with a putty of some kind. If you're looking for quality trim DO NOT BUY THIS.

The wood was extremely warped and not consistent in its size. It made installing the crown molding very frustrating and extremely difficult. I would recommend using a different brand or vendor in the future.

          Nice Crown Molding
This is nice crown molding. Home Depot needs to offer it in longer lengths at same price per foot. 8ft. Is too short in most applications.

I found the 49 to be a die or cutter...
I found the 49 to be a die or cutter number that is the same no matter the manufacturer . This is very cool as it allowed me to purchase premade corners for the project a real life saver. The moldings themselves were in one of the kits and consistent in quality they were straight with few if any blems. Will be buying again.
