Answer This Question

A:  No, you wouldn’t want to do that. It’s not a maintenance product. It kills yellow algae in conjunction with several applications of shock. It’s not a chlorine product. Use shock as a weekly maintenance product. If you are experiencing frequent algae blooms increase your shock to two or three pounds (bags) and run your pool for about 24 hours. This will do the trick. I have needed to use as much as four bags at once to rid my pool of algae blooms

A:  Yes you can. On yellowgone's website it says this.."MAINTENANCE APPLICATION: Use YELLOW GONE for normal maintenance. Use 1/4 of initial recommended amount with your regular shock treatment."

My pool is very old and when I brushed it weekly clouds of yellow filled the water and would clear up running the filter about 4 hrs. So I thought I would try the Yellow Gone and it has been 2 weeks and the plaster looks better than ever. The filter pressure remains at 12 lbs. The water is really clear.

      Blue in 24 hrs
Very simple instructions and very worth the money if you have a mustard algae problem like I did. The water cleared up within just 1 day. I can not even remember the last time our pool as blue as it is now.

        Pictures are worth 1000 words
Pictures are worth 1000 words. I followed the instructions. My pool was all yellow with algae. See the picture. I cleaned the filter and at the same time brushed all the algae and suctioned it out of the pool. I then put in just over 3/4 of a can of yellow gone into the pool. Five minutes later shocked the pool with chlorine. See the pictures 24 hours later. My pool has been never so blue in the last 20 years.

Very expensive at $15 for 2 pounds. Supposedly according to the store associate, this would be the chemical that would get rid of the algae in my pool. So I bought well over $100 of the stuff and put it in and there is no change.

Directions for use on label limiting. I had to onto Utube to get detailed instructions for the 30,000gal tile pool I own. Product expensive compared to yellow trine product that cleans better.
