Questions & Answers

I bought a battery powered fuel transfer pump. But it will not fit into my Eagle Type I steel can due to the way the pour spout on the can only opens 3/4 with the attached yellow handle. Anyone encountered this? Any suggestions?

Answer This Question

The Eagle Type 1 safety cans have spring loaded lids which will only allow them to open 3/4 of the way. They also include a flame arrestor that should not be removed while in use. We recommend using a battery-powered pump specifically rated for gasoline, diesel, kerosene, and other petroleum-based fuels, with a suction tube small enough to fit through the can opening while leaving the flame arrestor in place whenever possible.

Purchased an Eagle gas can about a year ago and I’m starting to get a white flour like material in my equipment (fuel filter, sediment bowl) never seen before when I’ve used plastic cans definitely coming out of the metal gas can.

          Answer This Question

Use needle-nose pliers or a flathead screwdriver to carefully grasp the edge of the flame arrester. Apply gentle, steady pressure while pulling it straight out. If necessary, slightly wiggle the arrester to help loosen it from its seated position.

Hi, I just bought a second 5 gallon can and noticed a gas smell from the new can after filling it up.  It looks like the cap closes too far forward and doesn’t seal correctly.  My first can closes in the middle.  Can I adjust the cap on the new one?

                Terrible design
This thing leaks with the funnel design it has. Almost impossible to use without spilling gas. I wouldn't recommend this product. It needs a nozzle!

I am sorry to hear you do not like the design of the Type I Safety Can. When using the Type I Safety Can, you will want to make sure your funnel is securely pushed down all the way to avoid any spilling. If you prefer a can with a hose, I would recommend a Type II model instead: https://www.justrite.com/safety-cans-and-containers/type-ii-safety-cans
Leaking from spot welds on the handle
Purchased this can a few years ago and it has started to leak from the spot weld on the handle. How do I get the can replaced under warranty?

Very good but taking off the funnel to fill and put back on is a pain. I drilled a 1.5" hole in top of funnel above the opening and now can fill gas without removing funnel each time.

It was what he wanted. The old style cans make pouring easier.

Bought this based on Reviews. It does seem a little expensive at first, but once you have it, you can't deny the quality and the air-tight seal created when the cap is shut. I fill it once every couple/few weeks for my Zero Turn Mower (Primary Use). If, for any reason I needed to buy another, I would without hesitation.
