Q:Can I attach this directly to a floor (using longer screws) without using a box? I'd like to prevent cutting a large hole in the oak flooring to set an electrical box just to pass a coax through. Thanks.

A:  Yes you can but it’s not made to be stepped on. Also consider if it’s sticking straight up it can be kicked and damaged
