Answer This Question

A:  Hi Luca, thanks for your question. We don't recommend using our empty metal paint cans to filter hot fryer oil. Instead, it's best to find a food-safe container from your local kitchen supply store. Have a great day! -Christina

Q:Is there any coating on the outside (specifically the top where the lid fits into the groove)? I'm not referring to the tin plating, more along the lines of rust preventative, etc.

    Answer This Question

A:  Hi Mark, thanks for your question. There is not a rust preventative coating on the outside of the can or chime (the groove the lid fits into), and the can may rust over time. However, the metal used to make these cans is called tinplate and provides more rust resistance than steel. Hope this info helps! -Christina

A:  Yes, there seems to be a coating that should prevent rust from occurring. It definitely not just bare tin/ metal. Hope this helps!

A:  Hi there, thank you for your question. Yes, our metal cans are lined with cured epoxy. However, we have not tested our containers for storing acetone, and this would be experimental as we cannot guarantee the performance. A:  Technically yes, as the can is epoxy-lined. But you will find it to be somewhat unwieldy. A one-gallon square (actually rectangular) can is a better choice as it has a small screw-on cap, though you will need a funnel to fill it and availability may be a problem.

A:  Hi Monty. Thank you for your question. I recommend checking with the manufacturer of the lacquer thinner you're using for their suggestions on how to store the thinner. They should be able to provide more info on whether it can be stored in a metal paint can. Have a nice day! -Joni

A:  Hi OilPainter. Thanks for your question. Typically, mineral spirits shouldn't cause a reaction with metal paint containers. However, I suggest checking with the manufacturer of the mineral spirits or on the product label to confirm if that product can be used with metal containers. Have a nice day! -Joni
