Answer This Question
A: From Manual: "Vertical installation if you wish to install the unit vertically, with the piping connections on top:▶ Install supplied brass plug into tap on side of water heater.▶ The supplied Temperature and Pressure Relief Valve will need to be installed on top. See location of T&P relief valve in Fig. 5 and 6.
by|Jul 3, 2021
A: It is an alternate location for the safety valve, depending on how you mount the heater, you have two choices to have the valve on top.

A: so you can relocate the popoff valve if you install it on its side
by|Jul 6, 2021
A: I’m assuming it could be used for a drain but is also an alternative site to place the pressure relief valve.
by|Dec 20, 2022
A: It is an alternate location for the T&P (temperature and pressure) relief valve. This unit can be mounted with the water lines exiting to the right or out the top. When exiting the top, use the T&P port between the water ports. When the water lines exit to the right, use the other T&P port. Also, always use the plug in the unused T&P port. And, don't forget to use pipe to exit the T&P valve to direct any pressure or temperature released water towards the floor. And, never cap or valve the pipe leading from the T&P valve.

Q:Can a water heater be connected inline with a water heater on the other side of the house to provide hot water faster? Then when the smaller water heater starts running out of hot water it will then be supplied by the far away heater?

A: I don't see why not.
by|Mar 28, 2021
A: It can be, but you have to realize that when it’s using its hot water it’s putting cooler water that’s between the two heaters in the smaller heater until it’s hot water between the two heaters become the same temperature.

A: Bob, For the model ES8 and other Bosch mini-tank units this is a common application. It is often referred to as a "Booster" application. In such an installation you run your primary water heater's hot line into the mini-tank's "Cold" intake. Then the Hot from the mini-tank goes to your use. Please note that for pure tankless (no reservoir) heaters, this is not an option.
by|Mar 29, 2021
A: Yes that is a valid solution. The drawback is that the cold water coming into the second tank will decrease the second tanks outgoing temperature before too long. A user would feel a slight decrease in temperature after using 4-5 gallons of the 7 gallon capacity. I am assuming the other side of the house would be a tub/shower location. It is unlikely that a flow to get to the other side of the house is a relatively large volume. Insulating the piping involved would be worthwhile if not already done. A low flow showerhead will minimize the variation in temperature. Measure the volume of water it presently takes to get hot water on the other side of the house and if the amount is not too large, < 4 gallons, it might not be objectionable. The Bosch 7 gal I have in an RV works well, but know that its recovery time is slower than a 220V water heater. Short answer: If you can tolerate a little bit of temperature variation until the system gets up to temperature at the far end it will probably be a quite satisfactory solution. Best of luck with your project.

A: Yes. Just read about the temperature sittings, or call the manufacturer.

A: Theoretically you could. However the amount of hot water that the tank holds and generates would not allow you to do it for very long.
by|Mar 19, 2021
A: I use it for a half bath in my garage. Not sure if it can be used for this application. Works great for sink Hotwater usage.
by|Mar 20, 2021
A: No. It's not rated to make steam. Hot water sure. Steam? No.
by|Mar 19, 2021
A: No. The unit won't heat the water to a high-enough temperature, nor has it the capacity to handle that sort of continuous load.

Q:If installed horizontally in the 5 gallon mode, can a drain be installed at the bottom cold water fill for winterization? That way, it does not have to be removed and tipped upside down to drain?

A: Works good in our barn.
by|Aug 29, 2021
A: You can install and plumb in this unit anyway you want too.
Yes, I have built in drain on the cold side.
My unit is installed inside in a laundry room, so my drain is for
Long term maintenance. I don't winterize mine.
I did help a friend and installed the unit with quick connects
in the plumbing to remove the entire unit in the winter.
Installed in his camper.
- we didn't want to risk the tank to cold weather and temp changes.

Q:Could this be used to fill a 5 gallon pedicure chair in my She Shed? I need to save as much space as possible. It also would be convenient to be able to disconnect or drain if we decide to not heat the space for some reason in the future.

A: Absolutely, it's a 7 gallon tank, you seven gallons of hot water.
Draining is a problem, there is no drain. Easiest way to drain is to remove it and tip it upside-down to drain it.
The other, hard way, is to disassemble, remove the heating element and drain it.
There is no drain.
by|Dec 11, 2020
A: Kimberly, This application sounds fine. As another commenter mentioned, once the tank is completely drained of hot water there is a recovery period for a new complete 7 gal. of hot water. This time can vary based on the temperature setting you give the unit and the temperature of your local ground water. If you are in the North East, it is winter, and you have the maximum temperature set, you could be looking at 40 minutes. If you are in Florida, and you set the temp midway, you are likely looking at 20 minutes.
by|Dec 9, 2020
A: It can be but you will most likely run out of hot water before you fill a full 5 gallons. The benefit is that you can play with the temp of outlet water so you may start too hot but wjen finishes filling could and will be a good temp to use

A: Yes, it's a 7 gallon hot water tank.
We use it in our laundry room with utility tub and it works great.
Just keep in mind recovery time is about 20 mins.
Hope this helps

Answer This Question
A: No. Only seven gallons.
Takes time to heat more water. Better to get on demand water heater, unlimited hot water, on demand.
by|Dec 12, 2020
A: Yes the warm water will last for a while and works great.
by|Nov 10, 2020
A: Yes, but length of shower is the better question.
Also were do you live. Like temperature of water before heating it.
It's a 7 gallon hot water tank and runs like a hot water tank, not instant or continues hot water.

Answer This Question
A: To winterize, remove water lines, tip upside-down and drain. There is no drain valve. Other option is to disassemble, remove heating element to drain tank.
by|Dec 11, 2020
A: That depends on your installation. You can either add an anti-freeze agent such as is used to winterize RV’s, or you can drain it, or blow the water out with compressed air. Make sure to disconnect the power first, or you’ll burn out the heating element,
by|Oct 30, 2020
A: Mine is used inside laundry room.
I suppose you could drain it and fill it with mixture of rv winter prep and water
And run in on the cold size to flush the unit.
I would actually use quick connections and remove it,
store it in warm area, then hook it back up when warmer.

A: Ours is in our boat so yes it will be fine. Just need to secure it as best as you can.
by|Sep 27, 2020
A: I am sure that it can.
Fairly simple. This seven gallon heater has just that, seven gallons. What ever is used is replaced with cold and has to be reheated which takes time. Maybe on-demand water heater would better
Unlimited hot water on demand.
by|Dec 11, 2020
A: Yes. its wall mounted. should work great
by|Sep 30, 2020
A: I’ve never tried that but I think they are ok for motor homes. They look pretty strong and the mount seems substantial, so I would think so,

Answer This Question
A: Yes it can. You have seven gallons, once that is used up it will take time to reheat. This is not a on-demand heater, it is a seven gallon hot water tank. On demand heater makes hot water instantly. I have this water heater on a recirculation pump that keeps my hot water lines filled with hot water at all times so that when I open my sink tap thirty feet from main water heater I get hot water immediately , do not have to wait to empty thirty feet of cold water in the pipe.

A: Yes, that is how I have mine hooked up.
Kitchen sink and dishwasher.

by|Dec 30, 2020
A: Kitchen sink yes, dishwasher no
by|Jul 30, 2020
A: The unit will work fine for the sink. At 7 gallons, it probably won’t do much or the dishwasher. If you are having issues with the dishwasher water not being hot enough, it is likely a problem with the dishwasher itself. Most of them heat the water themselves and don’t need a really hot water supply.
