Answer This Question

A:  NOT confusing. ?Potable? (drinkable water) is a higher standard. So of course it can be used for ?non-potable? (irrigation, heating and waste water). You don?t want to used non-potable pipe for drinking water, but the other way around makes no difference.

A:  this is truly confusing, sorry. PVC SCH 40 pressure systems manufactured by Charlotte meet the requirements of NSF61 for drinking water. However, PVC is not allowed by model plumbing codes for hot and cold-water distribution inside of a building. Please be patient while we work to update the specifications for this product group.

        Answer This Question

A:  Non portable water because that's what cpvc is for. Regular PVC starts to break down after a period of time and can cause a bad taste, odor and even chemical.

                    Answer This Question

A:  It depends on if your drain uses white PVC pipe or black ABS.  Most drain pipe is black ABS pipe.  If yours is black ABS, you will want to use an ABS fitting that looks like this instead of this PVC one.  If your pipe happens to be white PVC pipe (unlikely), then this would work.

A:  The CharloyyePipeAssociate answer is wrong. Because pipe and coupling can not have exact same dimensions. The ID on coupling is fraction larger than their 2" pipe (2.375") so its something around 2.390".

A:  A coupling is basically two DWV fitting hubs separated by a center stop in the middle of the fitting. Fitting hubs are tapered and the bottom of the hub will have a smaller inside diameter than the hub entrance. A:  This type of couplings are used to union two pieces, inside of it has a stop collar that is designed to have the same pipe size inserted into each side of the coupling. Before install, make sure you mark the outside of the pipe that is going to be inserted into the coupling so you can be sure that you pushed all the way through and is well installed, safe and is going to be leak proof. After the pipe is marked clean up all the pieces, apply the solvent and then the cement glue to one side of the pieces, connect them and keep them pushing for about 30 seconds before you glue the other side. And yes, sometimes when you try to install pipes in a dry manner (not glue present) the pipes don’t go all the way until you apply the glue.
