A:  Each cubbie holds approximately 10 pounds. The table top is sturdy and upholds approximately 100 pounds.

A:  No, I don't think so. The middle backing insert is the one that holds the 2 middle walls on both sides.

A:  I don't think that would be safe, but the piece is separate so I'm sure there is a way to put it together and omit that piece. The cubby sides are stabilized by the middle piece though. Otherwise it's just little wooden dowels that hold them to the top and bottom.

A:  The Activity Table is engineered to be assembled as directed for stability. It includes 6 cube storage areas that hold fabric drawers or other items for storage.
