      A:  This unit does not have a filter, if you have hard water in the home, we would recommend using distilled or purified water in the unit.

          A:  I don’t think this is any better at handling hard water than any other humidifier. We have very hard water so I use mostly distilled water.

            A:  Hard water is not recommended to be used in this unit as it can produce white dust.
