      Q:Very slight curve

      Answer This Question

A:  Carolyn, this is a very strong (rigid) aluminum tube and will not easily flex 5 inches; however, it can be done with proper clamping and weights. I know that some contractors use a muffler bender or manual pipe bender to accommodate slight curves.

Q:We have a curving concrete stairway from our dock to the house. Can you offer a suggestion how I could use this rail? If I use several newels, would there be enough flex to work?

        Answer This Question

A:  This handrail along with the EZ Adjustable Angle (model# eza555-w) will allow you to create curved handrail from your home to your dock. As you mention, the more bends will require more newels. This handrail does not easily bend.

Q:What special equipment would be necessary to bend this for a curved stairway?

            Answer This Question

A:  Hi MusicalC. A pipe or muffler bender that has dies for a 2" pipe would be required to bend this pipe. You may want to start with unpainted pipe which you could order from us through your local Home Depot Pro Desk or place the order for this black pipe and call our support line 573.365.7085 and ask us to ship it unpainted. It must be immediately after you place the order as we usually ship same day. Thank you for your question. Dan H. (EZ Handrail Dev. Team)

                Answer This Question

A:  Hi ears. When attached into wood studs using the three included brackets, this 8' handrail will hold a minimum of 950 lbs. When attached to metal or concrete walls, the gross load weight can reach 1400 lbs. Also, adding additional brackets significantly increases load weights; however, I have never encountered a real world need for this. Thank you for your question. Dan H. (EZ Handrail Dev. Team)
