Q:The stove was included in my home purchase. I opened the top of the range to clean inside. Is there an open space between the stovetop and oven? I never noticed before.

Q:"Slide-IN" versus "Free Standing", are they interchangable? Instructions say slide in?
by|Feb 2, 2024

Answer This Question
A: Hi - Thanks for reaching out to us. The primary difference between a slide-in range and a free- standing range is the location of the controls. On a free-standing range, there is a backsplash where some if not all the controls can be found. On our slide-in models, the controls are found on the front of the range above the door area. It doesn't have the large backsplash on the back of the range. Yes, they are interchangeable when it comes to installation. We hope this helps. Kind regards - Vikki@GEAppliances

Q:My husband and I are having a major disagreement. When you open up the oven door you are greeted by a tube of gauze-like material that runs the frame of the inside of the oven. It has turned dark and I don't believe it is supposed to be there.

Q:What if the handle doesn’t unlock the oven?
by|Jan 16, 2024
1 Answer
Answer This Question
A: Hi - Thanks for reaching out to us. The only time the door latch should be engaged is when you are using the self clean cycle. If the door won't unlock after the completion of a self-clean cycle, try disconnecting power to your range for 2-3 minutes. Once power is restored, try unlatching the door. If the issue persists, try setting the oven to Self-Clean for 1-2 hours. Wait approximately 30 minutes for the oven to cool and try to unlock the door. If the door unlocks, the control has reset itself and there should not be any other problems. If you continue to have difficulty, we recommend scheduling a service appointment with GE Appliances service by calling 1-800-432-2737. We are confident our highly trained service technician can help. Wishing you the best! Vikki@GEAppliances

Q:what is Sensi-temp?
by|Dec 9, 2023

Answer This Question
A: It's a technology that doesn't allow you to, sear, boil, cook evenly, etc, and wastes your time. It's a safety feature, but it won't allow you to cook. Buy coils without it. Make sure the coil tip plugs are the same length as the ones on your stove.

A: Hi there - Thanks for your interest in this feature, we're happy to explain. Starting in 2018, UL (Underwriter's Laboratory) regulations require all electric coil top ranges to have temperature limiting capabilities to reduce the risk of cooktop oil and grease fires. As a result, our electric coil burners now use Sensi-Temp Technology. Each burner with this technology has a silver medallion with a button (sensor) in the center of the coil. This button must make contact with the bottom of the cookware for the Sensi-Temp Technology to sense the temperature properly. When the sensor detects a pan temperature near the limit (450 degrees F), the burner will shut off automatically until a lower, safe pan temperature is reached. At that point, the burner will resume heating. This will not affect everyday cooking as the automatic shut-off is temporary and only happens at a very high temperature. Please note that stovetop cooking is an attended function. The Sensi-temp technology is NOT intended to automatically shut-off the burner. When a Sensi-Temp burner has been turned on, it will continue to heat even after a pan has been removed, and until the knob have been set to the OFF position. For additional information, see the article on our GE Appliances website titled "Electric Range and Cooktop - Coil Burner Sensi-Temp Technology" under the support section. Kind regards.
