A: No, these will not fit 12" records. The dimensions are for the OUTSIDE of the crate, they are approx 1/8" too small on the inside dimension.

A: Thick enough to have a 200# man stand on it upside down at the corners. I wouldn’t recommend but I have. I think they are about industry thickness for milk crates. Heavy duty if they are still making them like when I bought them. I bought about 60 for storage. None have broken so far in the last year.

A: I bought two of these GSC milk crates 0n 12-21-22
The inside dimensions are(exactly) 12x12 inches
I wanted to transport plastic gallons of milk and water. 4 6x6 gallons fit loosely with not much room to spare. So my answer to 12.5 inches is might not.
