Q:Can I use this as ceiling panel and how can I glue it up
by|May 5, 2024
1 Answer
Answer This Question

A:  Hello Jimb, We technically only recommend these panels to be used on vertical wall applications. The weight and flexibility of the panel makes it difficult to install on a ceiling. If you do use it on a ceiling, make sure you have a sturdy backer like plywood, osb, or drywall. We also suggest using our nylon rivets in addition to FRP adhesive for the best hold. The rivets help hold it securely in place until the glue dries. Hope that helps! Thank you, -Stabilit America

    Q:How do you cut it

    Answer This Question

A:  Hello Steve, it is recommended to use a carbide tipped circular saw blade. The fiberglass shards will go flying, so be sure to wear gloves and safety glasses. For a less messy cut, you can also use a pair of tin snips. Thank you, -Stabilit America

A:  Hello Bill, No, all FRP products sold through Home Depot are for interior use only. The panels do not have a UV treating and will yellow and crack if exposed to sunlight for long periods of time. -Stabilit America

        Answer This Question

A:  Hi DougyFresh, No, FRP should not be used near a heat source because it would be a fire hazard. FRP panels found in Home Depot are classified as a Class-C general purpose panel, meaning little to no fire resistance. Thanks, -Stabilit America

A:  Hi Bigsteve, we recommend our panels to be installed over smooth, sturdy wall surfaces only because over time the panels will take on the appearance of the rough underlying substrate. Hope that helps! Thanks, Stabilit America
