Q:Have Motorola wifi router Comcast coaxial connection, if use Google nest i would connect ethernet cable from my Motorola to nest? Wouldn't the Motorola be the bottleneck?

          Answer This Question

A:  first you turn off wireless in the Comcast Motorola unit. Then yes you connect ethernet to the Nest from an open port to the Motorola unit.

          by|Oct 30, 2022

A:  You can definitely connect your Comcast Motorola modem to the Nest Wifi router via Ethernet cable. However, if you're using a modem/router combo, we recommend setting it up in bridge mode and disabling its Wi-Fi functionality. This will avoid any network issues caused by both your combo and your Nest Wifi Router, broadcasting the same SSID and password. A:  Yes, luckily this just works as an extender to your internet provider’s range given the router you already would have.

A:  Nest Wifi works with most modems and internet service providers (ISP), including CenturyLink. However, for the best performance, we recommend connecting Nest Wifi directly to your modem using an Ethernet cable to set it up and broadcast your Wi-Fi network. If your modem is a modem/router combo, we recommend disabling the Wi-Fi functionality of the combo or putting it in Bridge mode to avoid Double NAT as it may cause connectivity issues. Q:Can two Nest routers mesh together rather than one router and one or more points?

                    Answer This Question

A:  Yes, although the Nest Wifi can be used as a standalone system, it can be combined with Google Wifi points or Nest Wifi (router or points) to expand coverage within your home in a mesh network, which is a group of devices that act as a single Wi-Fi network. So there are multiple sources of Wi-Fi around your house, instead of just a single router.

                    by|May 7, 2023

A:  Hey short answer is no. You only use one router. All additions need to be points.

A:  I connected the one with the Ethernet port to my cable modem. This puck with the Ethernet port is my router then the other 2 are the access points placed in other locations of my home. Not sure why you would want to connect the google router to another router but I am not a tech person. Hope this helps!

A:  As you stated the main hub plugs into your router and the points connect to it. I connected mine to the existing router, you have to have the google app to finish setup. Once set up you have two wifi networks, the original and the one running off the hub which you set up the name and password through the app. It should show up on your devices as a different network that you have to log into.

A:  Nest Wifi is not compatible with 3rd party routers or access points to create a Wi-Fi mesh system. It is only compatible with Nest Wifi routers and points and Google Wifi points. You can connect the primary router directly to your modem with the Ethernet cable to set it up and broadcast your Wi-Fi network, and add additional Wifi points wirelessly. A:  The problem is the cell signal your router is receiving, if the original signal is weak, the router output will be weak as well. I would consider a different cellular service company. Mike

A:  These are idiot proof. All you need is a gmail account, the Google Home app and an extra Ethernet port on your modem (that’s most important) and it will walk you through all of the steps. Instantly improved our Internet speed. More than doubled it in fact. We have tried boosters before too, and they didn’t little to nothing. These actually work!

A:  Nest Wifi replaces your traditional router to provide seamless, reliable Wi-Fi coverage throughout your home. Keep in mind that internet speed and reception depend on the modem and internet service provided by your preferred internet service provider (ISP). Nest Wifi can help distribute the full speed it receives from your modem. It goes directly to your modem using an Ethernet cable to set it up and get an internet connection from your ISP. A:  This is a router. It assigns IP addresses to devices connected to it, all on the same Class C network. Whether or not those devices talk to each other depends on how each device is configured.

A:  No, not really. An Intranet is normally used in an office environment which has a more complicated setup that may require you to hire an IT professional. The Nest Wifi Router on the other hand, together with the Nest Wifi Points, can work as a Wi-fi mesh network system that gives you a more simplified setup and management system for your network. It also replaces your traditional router to provide you with a reliable Wi-Fi network coverage throughout your home. A:  Of course! Nest Wifi is built on mesh Wi-Fi technology to extend your Wi-Fi internet connection. The router and point work together to ensure your devices stay on the clearest channel for a strong Wi-Fi signal throughout your home. You can easily add additional Wifi points to your existing Nest Wifi network. Check this link on how to add Wifi points: https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/9548301

A:  Yes, use your smart phone to add it and extend the range, it is very intuitive and flexible that way. The more "central" the device the better "nest" coverage, 2nd storied houses would want 2 for sure.
