Q:How well does the green plastic coating hold up to constant sunlight? I.e. for a clothesline? Does it deteriorate in the UV (intense in Colorado)?

A: I have been using it for years on top of garden boxes as a way to hold row covers in place. Here in Vermont, it lasts a few years until the plastic turns brittle....doubtless less in Colorado. I'm now switching over to 12-gauge galvanized.

A: Hello, This item is rated for 100 lbs. for the entire cable. Thank you for your inquiry.

A: It's 100 pounds for the entire cable. The tensile strength (how much you can pull on this cable) is 100lbs, while PSI is a rating of pressure (pressure is Force per Area, or lbs per square inch), or how resistant to crushing or expansion it is.

A: Hi Chris, and thank you for your question. Although the plastic coating offer additional resistance, we don't know what is the use and for how long the product is intended to be used in standing water. With enough time, there is little that any galvanized product could do against corrosion.
by|Oct 2, 2021
A: The plastic coating will protect the wire as long as it has not been cut through.
However, the wire IS galvanized, so it shouldn't rust until the zinc plating is worn off.
In extreme conditions, you MAY want to protect the cut ends from water entrusion with some coating or water-proofing

A: Used it for a laundry line with pulleys. Rusted through and broke about 1 yard from the end, a couple of inches beyond the last turn I made to fix it to the turnbuckle.
