      Answer This Question

A:  This tool wouldn’t fit my kitchen sink. I guess it depends on the size of the sink.

      by|Oct 15, 2021

A:  As others have said this meant to remove bath tubs, but if your drain has a cross bar it might be useful in helping remove it, I would be careful with how much force you used because it is designed for a bathtub drain

A:  This may work if the strainer has a the right size openings. You may want to try the Husky Basket Strainer Wrench, sku 1003005268. Another option is the Husky Pop-Up Plug Wrench, sku 1003005297. Hope this helps!!

A:  This tool has a large end, and a small end.

                    by|Oct 20, 2023

A:  I also purchased another tool. I don't remember the name. But it's used when the calcium has eaten away at the Drain. And you can't use the Wrench. You actually screw the tool into place then you slow turn to remove Tub Drain. This may be a replacement for the wrench. Good luck!!!!

Q:Will this work on old cast iron tub that the drain flange has nubs (vs crossbars)? Also, I read something about using penetrating oil... if so, where do I put that... on the inside as the top flange is sealed. Thanks for your help.

A:  Best to use a little bit of heat (ie: hairdryer)

A:  I put penetrating oil around where the drain chrome flange met the porcelain ceramic of the tub.

A:  It should work, if it is a tight fit. If not you will need the easy out type. Put the penetrating oil in from the underside of the tub ,if you can get to it. You can only get to the threads from underneath the tub. I heated mine with a heat gun . Some inside the tub to soften the old plumber’s putty. A lot more underneath the tub to expand the brass fitting. Came right out. Good luck!

A:  It will fit the nubs but I broke my husky wrench in a matter of minutes

A:  This works by being cone shaped. As you push the tool in, the circumference of the cone gets larger than the opening and it gets snug against the drain plug allowing you to wrench it out.

A:  You may want to try a drain extractor. They are designed to remove the drain even if the bars are completely missing. Drain extraction tools are sold by Home Depot as well.

A:  It may but maybe you will have to cut it out by cutting the barrel of the drain, be careful not to cut to deep into the Drain threads! Good luck!

A:  I had one that all 4 were broken, but I bought a brass tool like a large easy out from home depot in the same location as this tool, came right out.

A:  It might. . .I busted one of the "crosses" so only had three to work with. With some work, the tool was able to get the drain collar loose and I eventually removed it and installed the new one. I'm pretty sure H.D. would allow you to return it if you're not successful, you may want to reach out to them to confirm this if you haven't purchased the tool yet.

A:  It should work. I had the same situation as you do - I had broken half of the "x" trying to remove a corroded drain with a pair of pliers, and this tool removed the drain.
