A:  Been so long since I used it, I don't remember. Believe I just used a large crescent wrench. The trick is to hammer it in a bit first.

A:  To remove the tool from the old drain part, hold the old drain part with pliers or a vise and turn the tool clockwise to loosen it. The teeth will release in reverse direction ( Clockwise )

A:  Sometimes work calls for a hammer. This is not a one-time use tool, and once you remove it from the old drain, you can use it again on the next one.

A:  I can’t say, we had no threads on the metal piece of the drain for the tool to grab on to and it seemed like the opening was too big for it. I’d say if your drain still has the threads in it and the opening is not too big, then give it a try. If it doesn’t work out you can always just return the tool like I did.

A:  Nope. It did now work at all on my old tub drain. I will probably have to cut it out and hope I don't damage the tub.

Q:The size of the tool is too large to fit a standard 1.5" sink. One pic shows a tool that fits 1.5 to 1.75". Listed dimensions match that size. The one in stores fits 1 3/4" to 1 9/16". Is the smaller size available for purchase?

A:  You are exactly correct. The description in on this web page does not match the sizes on the outside of the package. I had to find this out after driving 30 miles. Shame on your wrong description HomeDepot. This tub extractor will not fit into a 1.5 in. O

A:  I had a similar issue. The drain tool did not go in deep enough to get the old one out. I had to use a screwdriver at the edge of the drain and hammer it out. It didn't move much at a time, but eventually got it out. I used this drain tool to tighten the new drain though. Will work now since ci used the proper sized drain in the future .

A:  I would expect that this tool will remove the bushing. I can't think of any tool that would work better.
