The difference is the bowl area measurements; K-5871 measures 30-1/4" x 15-13/16" and comes with a utility rack with soaking cup, colander with integral cutting board and left hand bottom sink rack and K-5864-5U has a bowl area measurement of 29" x 15". A:  They must have been on sale when I bought it. I never needed a 5 hole. You don't have to use all 5 but they are there is you want to space things out.
