Answer This Question

A:  The application rate for 66 Modified Bitumen Adhesive Brush Grade is 1 to 2 gallons per 100 sq. ft. Most rolls of SBS Modified Bitumen roofing are around 100 sq. ft. per roll, depending on the manufacturer. This means a 5-gallon pail of 66 Mod. Bit Adhesive will install approximately 2.5 to 5 rolls.

Q:Can I use this product on the torch down cap sheet?
    by|Sep 14, 2021
    1 Answer
    Answer This Question

A:  This product is an adhesive for SBS modified bitumen roof membrane that does not have burn-off layer. APP torch-down modified bitumen roofing membranes typically have a burn-off layer, hence why they are called 'torch-down', that must be installed using a roofing torch. This burn-off layer would prevent the adhesive from adhering. That said, 66 Modified Bitumen Adhesive can be used to make repairs using SBS modified bitumen membrane (without a burn-off layer) to the top side of torch-down membranes after the surface has been cleaned.

Q:can i use this product to adhere rolled asphalt roofing to a metal roof?
      by|Sep 9, 2021
      1 Answer
      Answer This Question

A:  Cold-applied modified bitumen adhesives are intended to bond SBS membrane ply or cap sheet to an asphalt base sheet membrane. They are not for bonding the entire roof membrane to a metal roof. I would recommend you follow the installation guidelines from the manufacturer of the SBS modified bitumen membrane for acceptable installation practices.
