A: Happy to help! Since Rust-Oleum Krud Kutter The Must for Rust leaves small rust-inhibiting crystals on the surface, we do not recommend it for use on surfaces that will have direct contact with food or beverage.

A: Good question Susan. Rust-Oleum Krud Kutter The Must For Rust can be used on metal mechanisms. The Must For Rust penetrates into voids on the metal surface and dissolves rust and oxidation through chemical action. Small rust-inhibiting crystals are formed and become integral with the surface molecules of the metal to resist future rusting. Remove oil and grease from the metal to be treated. Rinse the metal to break the surface tension and wash away loose dirt. Apply the remover by brush, spray or by dipping. Disassemble units composed of movable parts before cleaning. Clean parts and allow to dry before reassembling. Always test on an inconspicuous area first.

A: Real aluminum will not rust so perhaps whatever they were using it on was not all aluminum. I think it can oxidize though in which case this product will work on that. If there were metal parts against the aluminum, like lug nuts that rusted they can stain the aluminum and this product will work on those stains. Here is what Krud Kutter says about aluminum: ALUMINUM/CHROME: Apply the remover to wet surface. Allow time to clean, then rinse away with clean water and buff dry with a cloth.

Q:Will it work well on rusty ends of concrete wall ties? I have a large, 15 yr. old wall that I now want to prime and paint. It has about 250 broken off standard ties, I guess they are steel. They are approx. 1/4 inch diameter each, and all broken off about 1/4 inch back into the wall, so I can't get wire brush bristles in the holes to brush the rusty ends because the other bristles hit the wall surface. So I am wondering if I can spray this product or some other product into the wall tie holes onto the tie ends, rinse, (dry?), patch holes with a concrete patch product, prime and paint with concrete products. Any advise or suggestions will be appreciated - thank you!

A: Good question Tom! Rust-Oleum Krud Kutter The Must For Rust can be used to remove rust from metal wall ties. To dissolve rust on iron or steel, apply the remover as required to penetrate the rust. Chemical action begins at once. Cleaning time will vary according to the rust. Medium to light rust will be dissolved in 30 minutes or less, while heavier deposits may require a second application.

A: Great question PJ! Rust-Oleum Krud Kutter The Must For Rust penetrates into every void of a metal surface and dissolves rust/oxidation through chemical action. Then tiny, rust-inhibiting crystals are formed and become integral with the surface molecules of the metal to resist future rusting. The corrosive agents attack these crystals instead of the metal. Once completely dry, the surface is ready for the next step, whether it be painting or welding, plating. No rinsing necessary.

A: I found this stuff to be pretty ineffective and useless, even on lighter rust and that included soaking. Better stick with the wire wheel or try another product like Naval Jelly.

A: Yes, it can be applied like that or it can be brushed on as well as the part being allowed to soak in it. Car frames are too large for a soak. Cleaning time will vary according to the rust. Medium to light rust will be dissolved in 30 minutes or less, while heavier deposits may require a second application.
