A:  Never thought of that. I guess it could, but there is no door handle on it.

A:  Not if you’re going to walk on it. It’ll buckle under weight so probably not a good idea.

A:  I would recommend using the door in the inside of house. I don't think it would be good to use on exterior because it maynot be waterproof.

A:  It's a little flimsy for roof hatch. If you plan on using it to climb through to get into an attic, I would say not a good idea. This item is more of a utility access door. I have 150 year old home; I placed the door inside a closet and created an access point to reach plumbing for a bathroom that is on the other side of the closet. Not really big enough to walk through.

A:  No, it is not weather proof. I use them strictly for my air conditioning systems at work.

A:  My shipping label says 14 pounds. With the number of pre-drilled holes to secure to your studs, the weight should be equally balanced on your studs.
